This Week in Primary 1S

This week we have been very busy!

In phonics we have been learning about the sounds r, e and h.  Every morning we have been practising writing these letters correctly using the smartpals.  We have been using the magnetic letters to make words with our sounds and Miss Stebbing is very happy as we have been trying very hard to listen to the sounds in the words.

In maths we have been learning about symmetry and we made some beautiful butterflies to decorate the classroom.  We made one using paint and the other one we had to colour in correctly using coloured pencils.  Our classroom will be very colourful.  In our number zoo work we met Butterfly Three and we learned a little rhyme to write the number 3 correctly.  Remember to ask us what this is.

In topic work we have been learning about important people in our school.  We had a class discussion about what we think Mrs Johns does in the school.  Miss Stebbing was very interested in finding out all our ideas.  We also did some writing about Mrs Johns and we remembered to use finger spaces and write the letters we know correctly.  We tried hard to draw beautiful pictures of Mrs Johns in our jotters.

We continued our work on sound in Science by making a shaker.  We had great fun!  Thank you to everyone who has handed in junk materials for our science lesson next week.  We are looking forward to making our own musical instruments.

On Wednesday we had our photograph taken for the courier and we all looked very smart.

On Friday we had our first visit to our vertical groups where we get to work with pupils from the other classes (P1-3).  Please ask us all about the group we are in and what we learned.

🙂
