Maths Blast
The children in Miss Anderson’s Maths Blast class have been working so hard this term. They managed to half their time when playing the game Buzz and in doing so earned themselves a Maths Blast party with a fractions theme!
After solving how much of their ingredients they would need by working out the fractions questions they thoroughly enjoyed making (and eating!) their pitta pizzas!
They then played pass the parcel with a fractions twist! each time the music stopped the children had to solve the fractions question on the paper before ripping off the paper!
If you would like to make some pitta pizzas over the easter holidays then all you need is pitta breads, tomato purée, cheese and whatever yummy toppings you fancy!
Spread some tomato purée over one side of your pitta, add your cheese and other toppings and pop in the oven at 180 for 10 minutes! Then… Enjoy!
P2/3 trip to the National Museum of Scotland
P2/3 had a fantastic time today at the National Museum in Edinburgh. They were able to handle a variety of Viking items including weapons, everyday items and money. The children also enjoyed a show inside the auditorium before exploring some of the galleries. We even managed to sneak in a quick look at the very impressive T-Rex!
To quote one of our children today ‘This was the best day ever!”.
P2/3 Modern Languages Assembly
Thank you to all our parents and carers that came along to our Modern Languages Assembly. The children did a fantastic job sharing their learning of languages including Polish, Latvian, Scots, Norn, Arabic and French. P2 assembly power point
Sport Relief – Friday 23rd March
On Friday 23rd March Blackburn Primary School will be fundraising for Sport Relief. Each child is invited to wear sportswear and donate £1 to this worthwhile charity. Each class will be participating in a health promoting activity within their own classroom and the day will end with a whole school cyber aerobics session led by Joe Wicks, The Body Coach.
A Special Visitor!
Miss Clarkson and Mrs Bryce had a very special visitor in the office today … The Easter Bunny!
The Easter Bunny came to tell us that he will be visiting the boys and girls at Blackburn Primary School and Hopefield Nursery Class before the Holidays and who knows he might even bring an Easter treat to those who have been good!

World Book Day
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, Jill from Blackburn Library visited P1/2 and P2/3 for a story telling session where she read two lovely books, “The Huge Bag of Worries”, by Virginia Ironside and “The Rainbow Fish”, by Marcus Pfister. The children thoroughly enjoyed the stories and Jill commented on what a great audience our children were. Thank you!
Snow Days!
Mrs Mainwaring went out to clear her paths to get to the shop for bread this morning. By the time she managed to dig herself out the shops were empty. Decided to make her own bread. First time she’s tried it and it turned out lovely. Her house smells amazing with the freshly baked bread!
MMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
