Scottish Round Robin Highland Games

DSC00222     DSC00223 DSC00230    DSC00246

Mr Reid was delighted with the effort of all children in the Highland Games group of the Scottish Round Robin today.

The children took part in athletics events such as long distance running, short distance running, standing long jump, javelin and bean bag shot putt. We discussed how important athletics and sport are to us in Scotland and how we can lead a healthy, active lifestyle by keeping active through physical activity.

You can see from the photos how much effort the children were putting in.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Burns Assembly on Friday at 9:45am.

Festive Fun! Merry Christmas from everyone at Blackburn Primary!

We have had lots of fun at Blackburn Primary during the festive period but we have also worked very hard! There has been a lot going on behind the scenes with singing, craft, baking, parties and nativity and panto rehearsals. Our kids and staff have all been very busy!
We also enjoyed a visit from Bathgate Academy pupils who put on a great performance of “Jack and The Beanstalk” as well as a trip to Howden Park to see “Aladdin”. Our Christmas concert, cake and craft afternoon was also a big success and all the kids had a ball!
Everyone at Blackburn Primary would like to thank all the parents and carers for all their help, donations and support, not just over the festive but throughout the whole year.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year when it comes! I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday! Laura McMillan 🙂

ASD2/ Shooting stars – More “Snow Day” activities.

If it’s too snowy and cold to come to school here are some activities to get up to:

1) Go outside and make a snow angel or a snow man – Remember to take a photo and send it in to show and tell us all at news time!

2) If it is too cold outside use pillows and blankets to make a snow den indoors – you could eat a snack, listen to music or watch a movie from inside you den. Remember to take photos if you do this.

3) Make a warming cup of hot chocolate with an adult. Did you have it fully loaded with cream and marshmallows or plain (and more healthy)?

Road Safety Walk

A small group of children joined our JRSO’s on a road safety walk on Thursday 26th November as part of Road Safety Week.  These children will feed back what they have learned to their classmates.  More walks will be planned throughout the rest of the school year so all the children get a chance to participate.  All the kids were very well behaved and really took on board all the aspects of road safety.  Well done to all!

I would also like to say a big thanks to all our pupils for taking part in “Be Bright, Be Seen” day.  The outfits were fantastic and it was really difficult to choose the brightest dressed from each class!  Congratulations to our winners!

We also had some fab posters entered into our Road Safety competition.  Each class had certain criteria to meet and a huge effort was made by all.

Thanks for all your hard work during Road Safety Week!  Laura and the JRSO’s 🙂
