Happy Easter

So we have come to the end of our first 2 weeks of learning at home. Well done to everyone for putting in the effort to get through your learning, whether from your home learning packs, on the Blog or through Teams. It has not been easy for any of us so you should all be very proud of yourselves.

I want to wish everyone a very happy, healthy Easter. Take care and stay safe as well as have fun. Looking forward to hearing from you all on Monday 20th April when school starts back.

P2/3 Maths 02/04/20 Circles

Hi Circles.

Are we ready for our daily David Walliams fix?

http://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/

For maths today I want you to go on a symmetry hunt! Where can you spot lines of symmetry around your house? Or in the garden? Or on your daily walk? Can you take some pictures and upload them to twitter? Remember a line of symmetry shows that the object is exactly the same on both sides.

I also challenge you to tell an adult the time at 5 different points throughout the day!

Have fun everyone!

P2/3 French & RME

Good afternoon P2/3.

I hope you are having a lovely day so far.

For French I would like to complete the Spring Colour by Number worksheets – let’s see who can remember their colours in French!

During RME time I would like you to recreate the Easter Story and fill out the blank storyboard template in your pack – there are 8 boxes for pictures and space for a wee sentence under each picture.

Who had fun at the virtual zoo?

I enjoyed the virtual Chester Zoo visit did you?

If you didnโ€™t manage to, you can still see the videos on the link or on the Zoos page.

Here are some of the photos I tookย  and some interesting facts I learned……… enjoy!!

The๐Ÿผ Red pandas are my favourites, the babies are called cubs. There are less than 10,000 in the wild now, so they are classed as endangered.ย  They mostly eat bamboo, but the female will eat small bits of meat ( ๐Ÿย ย ๐Ÿฆ)when they are pregnant.

The park has Asian Elephants ๐Ÿ˜ itโ€™s only the male that gets tusks butย  in African elephants itโ€™s both the male & females.

Baby elephants donโ€™t have proper use of their trunk until they are about 2 year old.

Sun bearsโ˜€๏ธ ๐Ÿฏ ๐Ÿปย (also called honey bears) They have massive claws for climbing trees and very long tongues to find honey and insects. ๐Ÿ› ๐Ÿฆ—

They are endangered due to poachers. They are hunted for medicine and also deforestation for palm oil is damaging and clearing their natural habitats.

Butterfly house๐Ÿฆ‹ ๐Ÿ›

We saw the eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis and the butterflies.

Butterflies tastes with their feet,ย then eat with their long curly tongues.

They also showed us a very big, bright green female stick insects.

Giraffe ๐Ÿฆ’

Every giraffe has a different coat pattern just like our finger prints.

Their poop is just the size of a Malteser.

They eat 35kg of leaves a day/ the same weight of an average11/12yr old.

Tigers๐Ÿ…

They are endangered due to hurting and palm oil deforestation.

Their stripes make them easily camouflaged in grasses.

Penguins ๐Ÿง We just saw them being fed and swimming. There was no educational talk with this section, but you can find out about them on line or go visit Edinburgh Zoo Live Cameras to learn and see more.

P2/3 Maths – Monday 30th March 2020

Moving onto maths…

Today, i would like the triangles and squares to focus on time. Your first challenge is to tell an adult in the house what time it is 5 times throughout the day.

Your second challenge is to complete the textbook page that i have attached below. You can write your answers in your jotter. Your final math challenge for today is to log onto Sumdog and complete a math time challenge that i have set up for you. I look forward to seeing your results.
