Thank you to all our parents and carers that came along to our Modern Languages Assembly. The children did a fantastic job sharing their learning of languages including Polish, Latvian, Scots, Norn, Arabic and French.

Read, Write, Count Survey for Parents P2/3
Last term the children in primary 2/3 were given a Read, Write, Count bag with books and activities inside. They are now looking for parents to provide feedback and let them know what you think about the activity bags. Please follow the below link to complete the survey:

Winter Ready Activity P2/3
Below are some activities to complete in the event of the school being closed. Of course, if the school stays open there is nothing to stop you from completing these activities after school! I’m sure you will have lots of fun learning with these activities!
Hoop it up! Try with an adult or a friend to see who can keep their hula hoop going round for the longest time. It’s much more tricky when you have lots of layers on for the cold weather!
Cool critters! Use any natural materials that you can find to decorate your very own snow creatures! Make sure you take a picture of your fabulous sculptures to share with your class when you come back!
“Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”
During playtime and Lunchtime the P1/2 pupils all worked hard to build Mr Cool. We wonder what snowman adventures he will have tonight when we are sleeping?!
Christmas comes to Blackburn Primary
As the nativity and pantomime practices take over and with pva glue and glitter flying all over the school for Christmas crafts each class found time to add a bit of Christmas cheer to the hall.
This year as our focus in school is on raising the profile of reading we have each decided to focus on a Christmas book.

Exciting visitor in P2/3
There has been lots of excitement with the return of last year’s favourite visitor – Elfie! He has already been getting up to mischief by knocking over tables and chairs. The children have been given the special job of showing him how to behave properly! Who knows what will happen next…
P2/3 Book Week
Wow, what a great time P2/3 had during book week! Not only did we have special visits from 3 authors but P2/3 became authors and illustrators themselves. The children created a sequel to one of their favourite stories ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’. P1/2 children were invited along to the book launch of ‘The Day the Crayons were Happy’.
The children were also kept very busy organising and running the book swap stall which proved to be very popular!
They also had great fun at the CAPER and P6/7 reading cafe getting all cosied up with some hot chocolate and marshmallows!
Welcome P2/3!
It is so nice to have our P2/3 children back and what a fantastic start to the year they have had! This year we have decided that we are going to be real life superheroes and protect our rights in class. We have been focusing on the right to play, the right to be protected and the right to an education. The children came up with their own rules for in class and have all signed their names to show they agree to and understand the rules. Our primary 3 children have been setting a very good example to the new primary 2s joining our class and have given them a very warm welcome! Last year P3 won class of the year and earned a tuck shop, ice cream and even a photo booth opportunity! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the year ahead and we are more than ready to earn our dojos again!
P2 Walking club
Here are some pictures from the first week of P2’s walking club. We walked around Beecraigs Country Park where we searched for the Gruffalo! Next week we will be visiting Linlithgow Loch!
