Here is the full video of how to make our music shakers. Denise put up a Tweet yesterday showing the difference between soft and loud. Have a look around your garden or ask an adult for some of the items that you could make your shakers with. Take some pictures or videos and send them to us so we can hear your soft and loud music. Have fun!

Welcome to Hopefield
We have had a busy start and welcomed many new children this term. All new children have settled in well and have been keeping busy exploring the nursery. The children have been planting and harvesting vegetables, bathing dolls in our water tray, building super structures, looking for bugs and have had great fun playing in the garden.
Blackburn Gala Day
The sun shone down on the Blackburn Primary and Hopefield Nursery children, their parents and families, and the nursery staff on Saturday as we all had a wonderful time walking in the Blackburn Gala Day parade. Ben and Holly was our theme, and the children all looked amazing dressed in their costumes, as did the families and staff who joined in the walk. A big thank you as well to all the children and their family members who helped create much of the costume parts, such as the crowns, horns and wands. Brilliant job !
So well done all the children who dressed as Ben, Hollie, Gaston, and other characters … each and every one of you did your school, nursery and Blackburn proud !
Outdoor Classroom Day
The nursery children enjoyed taking on the role of Picasso today when we visited our outdoor classroom and painted Mud Pictures. The children dug a hole in the mud and added water to make “paint”. They collected sticks of various sizes and textures to use as paintbrushes. Some children even made prints with leaves. We were very lucky that the sun was shining for us today and we enjoyed our snack outside too.
Out and About in Blackburn.
We visited Bield Housing residents today with the afternoon children to play parachute games. The residents welcomed us and together we sang some songs and practiced making POPCORN with the parachute. We played merry-go-round and waves and made our hair stand on end with static when we hid underneath and lifted the parachute up.
We had a lovely afternoon.
Anyone for SMORES??
What an amazing day today. We talked a lot about being safe around a campfire and made posters to show our knowledge. The children helped to get ready for the fire building activity by collecting a buckets of water and sand to put the fire out quickly if we needed to. They arranged the bricks around the campfire and collected sticks to fuel the fire. We tried to light our fire using a flint but it was a little bit windy so we resorted to good old matches. Once the flames were big enough we roasted marshmallows on the fire and they were YUMMY! Even the parents tried a few!
