Emoji Emotions

Good afternoon A1/P1. I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine today.

As we are focusing on our health and wellbeing this week I thought it would be good to use emojis to get us talking about our feelings. It can be difficult for some people to express how they feel with words, especially kids so this is not only a fun activity but it’s sure to get us talking.  You could start this by asking which emoji represents how they feel.

I hope you have fun.

Bubble Painting

Good afternoon, I hope you have all had a good morning. This afternoon I have a fun activity for you to try.

What you will need –

  • paint
  • drinking straws
  • washing up liquid
  • paper

First of all decide which paint colours you are going to use and put about a tablespoon of each colour in a different cup. Then add a squirt of washing up liquid to each cup and fill the cup 3/4 full with water and stir well.

Now use your straws to blow the into your mixture to create the bubbles. Once they are ready to overflow from your cup, place a piece of paper on top and watch how it prints the bubble pattern onto it.

You can then blow back into your paint to create more bubbles and make as many pictures as you want. If they aren’t dark enough just add more paint as you go along.

If you have any bubbles at home you could even use the blowers to dip into your paint and blow some paint bubbles onto your paper.

I hope you have fun creating your bubble art work and I look forward to seeing what you all create!

A1/P1 Bubble bin sensory play

Good afternoon, I hope you have all had a fun morning. The weather isn’t great today so I have a fun indoor activity for you to do. All you will need is a large tub that will hold water or you can even do this in your kitchen sink. Some washing up liquid or shampoo, whisks, food colouring and glitter (optional).

All you need to do is fill your tub or basin with water and the soap. You add your colour and then whisk! Look at the patterns you are making and how it slowly changes colour.

Once you have whisked up your bubbles you can have fun playing. how do the bubbles feel in your hands? Can you make any shapes in the bubbles? How about hiding some small objects in the bubbles and using only your hands try and guess what they are.

I hope you have fun with your bubbles and cant wait to see all your pictures.

Fill your glass 3/4 full with water then squirt your shaving foam on top to make your cloud. Now you add a few drops of your food colouring and watch your rainbow rain appear!

What colours can you see? Does your rain fall straight down or make patterns?

I hope you have fun making your rain clouds and I look forward to seeing your pictures.

A1/P1 ‘Spell’ing 27/05/20

Good afternoon A1/P1. I hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather we are getting.
Here is a ‘spell’ing task you can do outside in the sun or indoors. All you need is some empty bottles, water, food colouring if you have it and a bowl for your cauldron.
You can use the examples on the pictures below or create your own spell sheets. Then all you need to do is write the sounds on the bottles and help your child pour the sounds together to make their spell words. You could even add some glitter to your water for a sparkly potion.
This is a fun activity to help develop their spelling and phonics knowledge. Having the kids help pour the water and screwing the lids is another great way to help develop their fine motor skills.
I hope you all have fun creating you ‘Spell’ing potions and I look forward to seeing all your pictures.

A1/P1 Play dough prints 13/05/20

Good afternoon A1/P1. I hope you have all had a great morning.

I thought today we could do some play dough printing. You can either use your own play dough if you have some or I have included instructions how to make your own.
Have a look around your house or garden to find some objects to print in your play dough. What shapes do they make? How does it feel?
Here are some examples for you. I can’t wait to see the pictures you all make.

A1/P1 Shadow pictures 29/04/20

Good afternoon A1/P1. I hope you have all had a great morning.

I thought today as the weather is a bit rubbish, we could make some cool lights.
All you will need is –
  • cellotape
  • An empty pringles tube or toilet roll / kitchen roll tube
  • Paper
All you need to do is draw any character of your choice, just make sure it’s no bigger then the end of your tube. My example is the Gruffalo, but you could choose anything you like.
Once you’ve cut out your picture you need to cellotape it over the open end of your tube. You can then either shine a torch through the other end or an adult could help cut a hole to pop their phone torch in.
You can then see your image appear on the wall! You could make a story with your pictures or even build a den and shine them in there.
I hope you have fun making your shadow pictures and I look forward to seeing all your photos.

A1/P1 craft task 22/04/20

Good afternoon A1/P1. I hope you have all had a great morning. Now that you have read the story about The Big Tree I thought it would be a good idea to make a birdhouse.

All you need is –

  • An empty milk carton (clean this out first)
  • Some pens or paint
  • String to hang your birdhouse
You will need an adults help to cut your doors out but then you can decorate this however you like 🙂 Why don’t you have a look around your garden or when you are out your next walk for some twigs or leaves that you could use as a comfy bed for the birds.
Im looking forward to seeing all your pictures of your different birdhouses. Here is mine hanging up in my garden waiting for the birds to come visit.

A1/P1 Lego challenge 01/04/20

Good afternoon A1/P1.  I hope you have enjoyed your morning activities. I have a Lego challenge for you to try out this afternoon. I gave it a go with my son but he wasn’t too impressed with my efforts. I’m sure you will do much better than me.
I look forward to seeing all your rollercoaster pictures.
