Class 2

Class 2 are pleased to be back. It is nice to see our friends again and to continue our learning. It is not surprising Mrs Clark and Miss Robertson are so tired as we have managed to do so much in just 4 days! We went to the 1st Get Together of the session on Wednesday. After that we had PE with Mr Jeffries.  At PE we had to try hard not to fall in the jungle or dessert island as we skipped, hopped and ran around the PE hall. We will get PE each Wednesday. Swimming was not on this week so we learned to play croquet, had a turn on the Trim Trail, then played WII sports. We are enjoying encouraging each other to do our best. We have designed and made a new display for the Golden Wall to record our positive behavior.

Our first ever week at school :) (P1m)

It’s been a great first week in P1m.

We have enjoyed wearing our brand new school uniforms, and being able to find our own coat-pegs and trays!

We have met new friends and our new teachers.  We will work with Miss McAllister on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Mrs Mooney on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  We also met our gym teacher, Mr Jeffries, who will take us for gym lessons on Thursdays.

We have been busy in our new classroom, singing songs, writing the numbers 0 and 1 and starting our My New School topic.

We are looking forward to another fun fill week next week.  🙂

Super Start for P1l

It has been a very exciting week as the children in P1l started school!  Mrs Leamy and Mrs Spence have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and help them settle into school.  Everyone is getting to know the classroom and we have been on a tour of the school, taking photos of people as we go.  Break time has been lots of fun playing with our buddies outside.  Here our some of the things we liked this week;

I have liked making new friends – Alfie.

I saw Miss Bollen – Megan.

I loved playing with everything – Catriona and Alex.

I like playing in the sand and kitchen – Enci.

I like playing with the cars – Miles, Maisey, Joshua, Jay, Jacob and Callum.

I like playing outside – Lucas.

Next week, gym will be on Monday.

Bye for now P1l.

New Golden Chart in Class 3

We have had a very fun week in class 3.

We worked as a team to create a new chart on the Golden Wall. We had to decide on our new theme together and compromise to come to a joint decision. We decided to create a robot themed chart. We helped each other to make the 4 stages to get to the Robot Factory. If we reach the Robot Factory we will get all of our golden time on Friday. We each made our own Robots for the chart.

Josh – I liked that the pupils got to choose the ideas for the chart.

Geordie – I had another idea for the chart but I compromised with the other pupils.

We also learned about some of the rights of children. We are visualising the articles to help everyone in the school recognise them. We are putting a little picture on each article. Please use them on your class displays.

Nathan – I am good at visualising the articles because I know them so well.

We are glad to be back at school.

Welcome 6m!

We were very excited to start back at school this week but we did have a few sleepy heads by Friday morning!  This week we have been busy creating our Class Charters and have been looking at our rights and actions.  We have been busy creating dioramas about our first week in P6 and have been busy making comic strips for our summer holiday snapshots 🙂  We have been busy earning house points and creating new house point posters for our new classroom.  We discovered that we have a very democratic class and we work well together in groups.  Miss McDougall thinks we are fab at this!  🙂 We are also looking forward to using our new I-pad minis and using our own devices in our class work.  Have a brilliant weekend !

Welcome Back from P7M

Primary 7m have had a great first week back. We have worked together to create a class charter. The pupils worked very hard to create a portrait of themselves that included their favourite things. The class worked well together on a group challenge.
The class voted and decided they wanted to learn about and compare America for their Term 1 topic.

Reminder: PE will be on Tuesday and Wednesday

Have a great weekend!

Primary 6a have a ‘funtastic’ first week back!

This week in Primary 6a we have had a fantastically fun first week! We have reacquainted ourselves with the class iPads but we were a bit worried that they had shrunk over the holidays. Fortunately for us Mr Welsh had bought new iPad minis for our class – Flyn thinks that this is awesome!

On Tuesday we all had good fun with our Primary 1 buddies. Our class has paired up with Miss Bollen’s Primary 1. Jack thinks it is great fun to play with his buddy and Finlay thinks his buddy is funny. We are all looking forward to working with Primary 1b to help them learn.

We have been learning more about the UNCRC and our rights. We are in the process of creating our Class Charter and here are a few of our designs.

Jack and Nathan have the right to clean water
Lauren C has the right to privacy
Lauren C has the right to privacy

Miss Anderson is using Class Dojo to monitor our behaviour and make sure that all the good things we do are recorded. Pupil login details will be shared in Home Learning jotters when they are handed out. So far we have had 130 positive things happen in our classroom! That is over 40 a day.

We hope everyone has a good weekend and look forward to reading any comments that are left for us!

Learning about our rights in p2g

It has been lovely to welcome all the new children into primary 2 this week. We have been getting used to our new classroom and routines and making some new friends.

This week we have been learning about our rights.  So far we have learned that we have the following rights:

1. To play and rest

2. To have adults listen to us

3. To be kept safe from harm

4. To have a name and an identity.

Next week we will think about the actions we have  to display that will go alongside these rights and we will create a class charter.

*** Reminder – on Thursdays we have gym and Golden Time ***

Highlights from Class 1

Health and Fitness Fortnight

This week we have been learning about keeping ourselves fit and healthy.  We had a special visitor on Monday!  The school nurse came to class 1 to teach us all about keeping ourselves safe in the sun!  We were able to answer lots of Mrs Fleming’s questions as we have been learning about safety in sun recently.  Mrs Fleming was very impressed!

This week we enjoyed playing rugby.  We learned how to hold and pass the rugby ball.  We also learned to play Hockey.  We were able to show Miss Barrie how to hold the hockey stick correctly and we practised passing and stopping the ball.

At swimming we said goodbye to Mrs Patterson.  We had an extra special treat at swimming this week.  We played with giant floats in the swimming pool.  It was great fun pretending that the giant floats were boats.  The boys in class 1 have worked hard this year to develop their swimming skills.  We are much more confident in the water and can swim using floats and kicking our legs.

Reflection

We had our final Get Together of the year.  We looked back at events from throughout the year.   Some of our favourite memories include:

The Christmas party at Hampden Park,  Soft Play, learning how to care for a new baby and holding baby Cameron, the Nativity show, new iPads, swimming lessons, Sports Day, Singing ‘Welcome Everybody’ at Get Together, gardening with Mr Marsden, learning about people who help us,  Billy No Buzz, a special visit from PC Arnott, playing the Rainbow Room, meeting Yolie and David, the Skoog, P.E and lots more!

Goodbye

This week we said goodbye to Mr Marsden, Mrs Zaloni and Aiden.  We will be sad to see them go and wish them all the best at their new schools.

Have a great summer holiday!

Attendance Award Winner

Congratulations to Murray McKenna (P7b) who was this session’s Primary 7 Attendance Award winner.  On Monday 24th June 2013, Murray attended an award ceremony at Howden Park Centre where he was presented with a certificate and book token for his excellent 98.7% attendance record from P1-7 at Balbardie.  A fantastic achievement.  Well done, Murray.

Health and Fitness in P2pg

This week we were learning lots of things about health and fitness.  We learned about what healthy living means, what we need to do to keep healthy and we made posters to show all these things.  We learned about how food keeps us healthy, how our body digests food and how it takes the goodness out of the food for our body.  We also looked at how this goodness helps our body to grow strong.  On Tuesday we were helped by the P7’s to do lots of activities outside – which we really enjoyed.  Our sports day was great and we all enjoyed the different races, even when we didn’t think we would enjoy them!  An instructor came in and we learned lots of different skills for basketball – which was really great!

With Ms Gavin we learned skills in Curling and Golf!  We also made medals for taking part in our first week of the Health and Fitness fortnight, which meant we were all winners for taking part!

Friday was also really exciting when we met our new teachers for next year.  We are a bit sad that we are getting split up but excited that we will make new friends!

We also continued learning about friendships and how to disagree nicely with each other, we now need to practice this lots in class and in the playground!  Our learning about friendships will help us with our new classes next year.

Well done P2pg.

Health and Fitness Fortnight

The first week of fitness fortnight has been great fun.  We have been very busy learning about keeping fit and healthy.  We also learned about our right to have clean water, nutritious food, a safe place to stay and medical care when are ill (UNICEF Article 24).

We had a great time at Sports Day!  Miss Barrie, Mr Marsden and Miss Cameron were so proud that we all participated and tried our best at the Sports Day events.

Mrs Stewart gave us a special medal for going to Sports Day and taking part with the events.  We clapped our hands and said well done to everyone who got a medal.  We always try to be a good friend when someone else is given a prize.  We are looking forward to another week of Health and Fitness.  We will be learning how to play rugby and hockey!  We will also learn more about healthy eating and how to stay safe in the sun.

Finally, the boys in class 1 would like to say thank you to Cary.  Thank you for creating the coolest Sensory Room we have ever seen!  When we arrived back to school from Sports Day, there was a special treat waiting for us in the Sensory Room.  Cary had transormed the Sensroy Room into an Angry Birds play area!  We enjoyed dressing up as Angry Birds and playing with the birds, pigs and building blocks.  “It was so cool and awesome!” Cameron
