Happy New year!

In our short, short week we have looked at writing thank you letters to our parents. When we talked about it, we found there were so many things they did for us over the holidays which we didn’t realise! We took our thank you letters home today.

We listened to some Scots poetry by Robert Burns and other poets as we are gearing up for the competition coming up. We chose the poems we would like to learn so that we can recite them at the competition. We also looked at creating our own Scots poems about animals. we will write these next week.

Bye for now.

P3e

We hope you all had a merry Christmas and a happy new year! This has been a very short week back at school but we are all excited to be back. Yesterday we shared all our stories from the Christmas holidays. It sounded like we all had lots of fun and Santa was very good to us all.

We have been learning about new year and about how some people want to do something to make them a better person. We reflected on last year and thought about all the good times we had. We then decided to make a new year’s resolution. This means choosing something we are going to try and do to make us a better person. Here are some of our resolutions:

Karys – I want to read more books.

Kayleigh – i am going to try and be nicer to my brother.

Grace – I am going to work hard at my gymnastics.

Demi – I am going to try and eat more fruit and vegetables to help me to be healthy.

Robyn – I am going to practise my spelling words more.

Mya – I am going to try and help my mum and dad more at home.

Baillie – I am going to try and get better at swimming.

Keira – I am going to practise my maths.

Freddie – i am going to try and play on my i pad less, help my mum out around the house and spend more time swimming.

Lotte – I am going to try and tidy up more at home.

Awards:

Table of the Week – Invisible Superheroes

Class Dojo – Demi

Bucket Fillers – Kai, Logan and Grace

Last night was very wild and windy and most of the class had trouble sleeping. We talked about our wild weather stories:

Lauren C: “Yesterday I took my dog a walk in the wind and rain and I was running into the wind and it was hard to breathe.”

Finlay: “In Tenerife in 2012 there was a really bad rainstorm when we were on the beach and I cut my foot on a nail because I couldn’t see it due to all the rainwater!”

Lauren K: “When I was in Italy once there was a really wild blizzard and we couldn’t see where we were going when we tried to find shelter!”

Kieran: “In 2005 I was in Salou and there was a storm coming and I nearly got struck with lightning!”

Antonia: “When we were on holiday the wind was so strong that it blew my brother off of his feet!”

William: “Last night my dad had to travel up to Perth and I went with him and we saw cars blown over!”

Jay: “I was on holiday in Turkey and we saw a tornado out at sea!”

Harry: “Once when I was in Tenerife when I was 2 or 3 I was still in my pram and this palm tree was blown over by the wind and just missed me and my gran.”

Ellie: “One year I was at Balbardie park and I couldn’t see because it was a blizzard and I fell down the hill and faceplanted!”

Callum: “I was at football training last night in the wind and when I jumped up to header the ball the wind pushed me back!”

Mr Berginis: “When I was about 7 I went on holiday to Salou in Spain. We were sitting on the beach and it started to spit with rain. My dad said it was just a passing shower but it rained for two days and the water was up to my neck!”

Next Friday we will be showcasing our acting talents in our pantomime Aladdin. Here are our thoughts:

Kieran: I can’t wait to wear my sparkly red hat and waistcoat!”

A very short week?!
In these two days we had so much to do!
We made a book to write Scots words in. We chose words which were funny, interesting or those which we didn’t know the meaning of. In maths we played different games, all related to what we have learnt about addition and subtraction.
We had our party on Monday and ours was the first party in the new hall. It was very exciting! We played different games and could have carried on longer but knew we had to have our party food before we went home.
Today we went to church and enjoyed the Nativity. Jennie, Zoe, Megan and Cody were the stars of P4g. Well done to everyone who took part!
We finished the day off with finishing off our Christmas cards, making angels for our Christmas trees and clearing our trays!!
Happy Holidays.

P5m: It’s A Wrap

We wrapped up term 2 of P5 watching our Loch Ness Animations and performing our rap with 5d at the church service.

Only two more sleeps until Santa brings us some lovely things to unwrap!

So wrap up warm and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Merry Christmas from P1L

We had our Christmas Party this afternoon! Here we are back in the classroom after some dancing>

We met Santa Claus upstairs in the hall. Charlotte whispered what she would like for Christmas to Santa and Santa gave her a huge sack of presents for everyone in the class!

Here we are opening up our presents in the hall. Have a lovely Christmas from P1L.

P3b News

On Monday we were the very first class to use the new gym hall! We played a really good, new game where everybody had to jog around the hoops and when Mr Jeffries shouted hoops, we had to run into one. If you didn’t get in on time you were out. Mr Jeffries made it tricky by taking hoops away each time.
Here are our thoughts on our new hall:
‘We have a climbing wall. We have holes we can put our feet in and climb to the top.’ – Ben
‘We have four basketball hoops.’ – Freya
‘There’s a Smartboard that comes down from the ceiling.’ – Grace
‘In the gym hall there’s boys and girls changing rooms.’ – Jessica
‘It looks gigantic!’ – Breanna
‘Most of the hall is glass- there’s a big window.’ – Findlay

On Tuesday P3 had a Christmas party. We joined with the other classes to play lots of games including; musical statues, corners, pass the parcel and musical arms. We also had a dancing competition and ate some party food! There was a visit from Santa  We got presents and ice-cream. We had great fun!

Bye for now,
Miss Bollen and P3b

What a busy week!
This week we learnt how to make stained glass art based on the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. We then turned them into cards and wrote card inserts for them. We also made mini Christmas trees made from magazines. These were quite easy to make but took a lot of patience to make them.
We have been listening to and singing our Christmas Carols and really enjoy them. Our favourite is the ‘Xmas Factor’.
In maths we did lots of shopping using ‘Argos’ catalogues. We had to buy things for family and friends but we had to find out how much we spent altogether. Then we found some items were faulty and had to return them – again finding out how much money we got back. Both tasks were tricky!
We have also been learning about 3D shapes and how to make them using’nets’. A net is a plan of how to cut and fold the paper into a 3D shape.
Some of us worked hard to get into the Golden Club and we had great fun today. The rest of us got to colour in a secret picture of Rudolf the reindeer – we had to find grid references and then colour the correct boxes. All in all a busy week.
Enjoy your weekend!

What a busy week in P3/2

Primary 3 had their party on Tuesday and Primary 2 had their party on Thursday. What fun times we had …lots of games and great food and a surprise visitor ..Santa Claus managed to fit us in aswell and brought us all a gift…Thank you so much Santa…

Two more School days left until the Christmas Holidays…

We would like to wish everyone in the school a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Some thoughts from p7b

Kieran – I am excited because my aunty is coming up from England to visit us for Christmas. We don’t get to see her very often.

Jack – My New Year resolution is to try and score a goal for the school football team.

Finlay – My New Year resolution is to improve my behaviour and make it even better.

Ellie – I’m looking forward to Christmas because I think I’m getting a horse from Santa!

Jay – My New Year resolution is to get better at my times tables maths because we won’t be able to use our times table squares to help us in Big Maths Beat That.

Kieran – I enjoyed learning about World War 2 this term and my favourite part was the Holocause because we read and watched The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. Also because we learned about two people who managed to escape from Auschwitz.

Kendal – I’m looking forward to Christmas because I get to spend time with all of my family.

Kai – I’m looking forward to Christmas because I bought a massive Christmas cracker and I’m looking forward to pulling it with my little sister.

Harry – I’m looking forward to Christmas to see the look on my gran’s face when she opens her present. I think she will really like it.

Olivia – I’m looking forward to Christmas because I think I am getting a dog from Santa!

Isla – I’m kind of excited about Christmas but my dad is going into hospital on the 22nd and might not be back out in time for Christmas.

Adam – I’m excited for Christmas because every year me and my sisters have a wee tradition of watching a horror film every year!

Antonia – I enjoyed learning about World War 2 and my favourite part was learning about Anne Frank because it was interesting to find out how they managed to stay hidden away for two years.

Ellie – I enjoyed the Boy In The Striped Pyjamas but I got a little upset at different parts of it because it was sad.

Chloe – I enjoyed going to visit the trenches down at the Partnership Centre because it was really fun and interesting. I learned that if the soldiers tried to peek out over the top they would get shot.

Harry – This term my favourite thing was watching Goodnight Mr Tom because it was a really good WW2 movie.

Finlay – I’m looking forward to Christmas because it means that all of the soldiers from Afghanistan will get home.

Mr Berginis – All of p7b and myself would like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we hope you enjoy the Christmas holidays.

Cutting some shapes in P1w

This week we have been learning a lot about 2D and 3D shapes. We know that 2D shapes are flat and 3D shapes are fat!

At the start of the week we cut out the net shape of a square-based pyramid and made it look like a Christmas tree. We then cut out shapes that we drew and stuck them on our Christmas trees. After we had finished sticking on all of our shapes, we counted them and recorded it on the bottom of our trees.

This week we also did a very exciting Shape Hunt! We were put into shape groups and given magazines to search through to find our given shape. We found lots of shapes in the magazines of real objects and our finished shape boards look fantastic!

Class 1 blog

This week some of us in Class 1 had our Christmas party. It was such fun. Joe and Gabriel are looking forward to their parties next week.

Jayden – The party was really good fun. I danced with Yolie and Jake. I played pass the parcel. I won a heart book.

Lewis – The Christmas party was fun and I was dancing and trying to do a statue. I told Santa I want an Olaf on Christmas Day.

Jake – Santa gave me a book. I had a Santa lollipop, it was delicious.

Yolie – I was dancing with Jayden. I turned around. I eat pizza at the party.

At swimming it was our fun week so we all played together in the small pool.

David – Going splashing in the pool. Getting all wet.

Lewis – I fell off the float at swimming and made a splash like Augustus Gloop. Callum was trying to save me. Augustus fell in the chocolate river with a giant SPLASH!

Joe – At swimming I was doing floats. It was really funny. I was sleeping on the boat.

Gabriel – I went on the circle float all by myself, just sleeping. I went on the floats with Jayden too.

P4m 19.12.14

This week we have all really enjoyed writing the middle section of our stories ‘ The Christmas Elf’.

In Maths we have been learning to add 2 digit numbers to 3 digit numbers and some of us were challenged to add 3 digit numbers together. With Mrs Ghafoor in maths we were cutting out items from a catalogue and adding and subtracting them to find out the total amount or the change that we would get from a given amount.

We have also been learning about various famous Scottish people. We really enjoyed taking notes from a video about Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s life and using the net books in groups to research our own famous Scot.

Our Golden club members really enjoyed the first event on Friday and we are all very excited about the fun we will have at our Christmas party next week!

Have a lovely weekend 🙂

P6H

We finished our topic with a bang this week with a visit from Tesco who prepared a Caribbean Fruit Tasting for us.  We tried all sorts of different fruits, some of which we had never even heard of!

Joe – it was really good, I liked the big oranges the best.

Adam – Amazing, best fruit ever!

Nadia – Sensational!

Rachel – It was really good and I loved the coconut and pineapple, although I wasn’t too keen on the mango!

Also a big thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Afternoon.  We had a great time and loved organising all our games and food for you all.

Mrs Haddifon – You all worked very hard organising the event, and I was very impressed with your leadership and creative skills.  It was great to see everyone sharing their learning. I am very proud of you all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!

Amazing Animations in P5m

It has been animation crazy in 5m this week as we explored the ‘Animate it’ app and let our imaginations run wild. We discovered lots of interesting features and shared hints and tips as we created animations on a subject of our choice. Once we were familiar with the app we felt confident to tackle our big project – The Loch Ness Adventures!

Ten very special stories were selected and their authors chose an animation crew to help convert them into animations. We carefully planned our backgrounds for each scene, the characters and props we would need and any text that would be necessary to tell the story. Then we got to work designing, creating, filming and editing.

We’re having great fun and are looking forward to the premiere on Monday. Wonder if any of us will be up for an Oscar?

Special thanks to Ben whose origami Nessies were in great demand!

From the Blog Post Box:

This week I enjoyed…

…planning my animation. I can’t wait to start filming!                    Louisa

…singing in the choir for my mum and at the Partnership Centre. I’m looking forward to completing the Loch Ness Animation.         Madeleine

…PE in the new gym hall. I’m looking forward to completing our animation and I can’t wait until Xmas!!                               Roan

… Health and Wellbeing. When the teacher asked the girls if they had an X-box or a football nobody laughed. When she asked the boys if they had a doll people started laughing. We did some drama to help us think about this.                            Louise

…planning and making our Loch Ness Animations.                     Geo
