P2A’s week

In our maths work we have been busy learning about money and we are looking forward to counting our pennies in our class shop!

We have been learning about Firework Safety and how to follow the Firework Code, we had fun making Firework rockets in our art work this week.

In our writing we wrote super firework stories and watched Firework displays from Australia, London and Dubai.  We loved the colours and the shapes they made.

In drama this week we learned how to use our facial expressions and making Funnybones skeletons and we learned about body language.

We have been busy practising for our School talent show and our winning act for P2A is Hollie.  Well done to everyone who took part and also our finalists-Luke, Lois and Hollie.

Thank you to our visitors for coming to our class assembly about Friendship.  We had a lot of fun practising with the microphone! We hope you enjoyed it too 🙂

We are looking forward to Halloween next week and doing some Halloween activities…wooooo!

For our writing this week we have been making Scary Halloween Stew potions and using our describing words to create them!

P2A’s week

Important Assembly Date Change

Please note our class assembly date is now on Friday 28th of October and not on 11th of November as previously stated.

In maths this week we learned a bit more about 3D shapes and we split into groups to find out the properties of 3D shapes and we made some wonderful alien and animal 3D shapes to help us.  We were very lucky as Mrs Spence joined us for our maths lesson.

We continued to focus on our imaginative writing and wrote a wonderful story about a very helpful dog/cat.  We are trying to make our stories more detailed by adding lots of describing words.

We had a very special visitors to P2 as we had Digger the Guide dog, Lisa and Rosie’s Dad visiting us. Digger is a 8 year old black retriever and has been helping Lisa for 7 years.

P2A

Important Assembly Date Change

Please note our class assembly date is now on Friday 28th of October and not on 11th of November as previously stated.

This week we have been practising our Being Cool in School activities.  We learned about Tom, Kit and Jen and how Tom dealt with his anger. He made good choices by taking some breaths and having some time out.  We think this is a great COOL strategy to use and we are looking forward to seeing what happens  next.

We have been busy learning our big numbers and counting up to 100.

In writing we wrote brilliant stories about a Magic Leaf using Emma’s fantastic colourful leaf that she found in our Autumn Walk.  We are fabulous explorers in P2A!

We had a fun visit from Angela and Sandra from the RNIB and Sandra has been blind from birth and she showed us how to read Braille and Angela showed us some talking books and we listened to some stories.  We had a fantastic time!  We are really looking forward to the Guide Dog visit next week too 🙂

P2A’s week


Important Assembly Date Change

Please note our class assembly date is now on Friday 28th of October and not on 11th of November as previously stated.

This week in P2 we were very excited to get a visit from Diana the optician.  She told us a lot of information about her job, how our eyes work and what we can do to help our eyesight. We tried on lots of different glasses and lenses and had fun with all of the games.

We have had fun this week learning the days of the week in French and we will try to practise them every day.

In maths this week we have been busy practising our BIG numbers in our mental maths and next week we are looking forward to our Number talk activities.

Mr Bremner the minister,came to visit during assembly and we listened to his stories about the bible.

P2A’s week

As part of our Senses topic, we have had fun looking at optical illusions.  We had fun making our eyes go a bit funny and some of of us were a bit dizzy! We paired up in our penny experiment where we closed one of our eyes and tried to judge where the penny would drop…Lots of us were really good at this task, Miss McDougall was very impressed.

We are continuing to get faster and faster at our mental maths and are enjoying our new maths games.

In writing this week we worked on Who, What, Where and When and we found out that Mrs Potato Head had a cold…we had to help her get better.

We are continuing to use our expressive voices in our reading groups and turbo boost our volume, well done P2!

P2A’s week

This week in P2 we started our new topic of Mr Potato Head and his senses.  We had fun making our Mr and Mrs Potato Heads and they will help us with our challenges!

In writing this week we wrote about Mr Potato Head losing his eye sight and who would help him.  Well done to the Star Writers Luke, Hollie and Elena who wrote lovely sentences about his adventure.

We have been busy practising our mental maths with adding our numbers up to 20 and we are getting faster at the answers.

Miss McDougall is delighted that some people are nearly on Step 2! Excellent news 🙂

P2A’s week

We have had a busy full week in P2. We have been busy making our class charter and making up our class charter rules to help us this year.

We started off our reading groups this week and were very excited to find out our new reading books and what groups we would be in.

In maths work this week we have been busy writing and practising our numbers up to 100 using our new maths games.  We love using Ant picnic to help us to sequence our numbers.

We are looking forward to starting our senses topic next week and Mr Potato Head is going to help us learn about them.

We look forward to seeing you at Meet the Teacher on Wednesday 7Th September at 6pm.

P2A

This week for our Learning across the Curriculum topic, we made wonderful Kenyan sunsets using charcoal. We had fun smudging the pieces together!  We also started making our collages of African animals and masks. Next week we will look at camouflage and how the different safari animals hide in the wild.

We had lots of fun with Mrs Mansfield and we learned the song Belly Mamma, played boomwhackers and learned about polyrhythms.

This week we have enjoyed Shared Start with our parents/carers-Thank you for visiting us and helping us to make boats for our Lighthouse Keepers Lunch topic.

In maths work we have been busy learning fractions and finding a fraction of a number.

In topic work we have been learning about circuits and we had fun connecting the batteries and switch together to make the bulb work.

In writing this week we have learning how to make stories more exciting by including adjectives in our work.

We read a super book at storytime today and we practised how to say hello in 43 languages.

In our topic work this week we learned how a lighthouse works and we designed and then made wonderful lighthouses for our class display.

In drama we made dragons we made castles to use in our work.

In P.E this week we learned how to play Chaos Tig and did different kinds of class races.

We have been busy practising our handwriting and we are improving on our presentation and writing using capital letters and full stops.

We have been busy bees learning about sharing and grouping in our division work.  We look forward to learning about fractions next week.

We had a fantastic time at the P2 show and we have been busy watching the DVD of Tadpole Rag-We were BRILLIANT actors, actresses and singers.

We have been busy learning about The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch and we made super puppets of Mr and Mrs Grinling, seagulls and Hamish the cat.

In PE with Mr Jeffries we have been learning how to play Shadow Tig, we think it is really fun.

Welcome back after the Easter Holidays.

This week we have been busy redrafting favourite stories for the Young Writer competition.  We found it a challenge to do our best handwriting and presentation.

We have been busy practising our times tables and we are getting faster at our table challenges.

We have had a handwriting focus this week and we are trying our best to write on the line and use capital letters and full stops correctly.

In the gathering we learned how to resolve our conflicts by making good choices.

P2A’s week

This week in our dungeons and dragons topic we have been making a senses book about dungeons-we really liked sharing our ideas with each other.

With Miss Owens we had fun designing our Medieval costumes for our knights, princesses and soldiers. Have a look at our funky costumes…we have displayed them in class.

In our maths work we started a new topic-length and we measured various items in our classroom to see what ones were shorter and longer.

We practised our editing techniques this week when we copied out our Trapped Dragon stories.  We are trying hard to put capital letters and full stops correctly into our writing.

We learned a new game in P.E with Mr Jeffries called The Bear game and we had fun learning the rules.

We continue to practise our words and actions for the P2 show.

P2A’s week

In class this week we have been learning about the symbols of Easter and writing about what we would have in our Easter baskets.

As part of our Dragon and Castles topic we made dragons and dragon masks to use in our learning.

We were introduced to another little dragon this week called Zog, and he helped us to write about a dragon escaping from the dungeons.

We continue to add to our classroom castle and we have now made blocks for the outside of our castle walls.

We had fun making playdo dragons and Komodo dragons with Miss Owens.

In our French work this week we learned the names of animals and we had fun playing some games.

In our maths work we were introduced to playing Bingo with our times tables, and we look forward to playing this again to help us get faster at getting the right answers.

P2A’s busy week

As part of our Dungeons and Dragons topic we have been learning about the different jobs people used to have when they lived in a Castle.  We learned what Puff the dragon would get up to and we are hoping that he will come back to visit us.

We continued to learn more about symmetry and we made our own shields with symmetrical patterns.

The Spheres maths group have been continuing to practise the 4 times table and have been practising the 3 times table.  We are getting faster at our answers.

We continue to practise our songs and dances for the P2 show which we are looking forward to performing after the Easter holidays.

In RME work with Miss Owens we learned the stages in the Easter story.

P2A’s week

We started our Castles topic this week with Miss Owens and we labelled the parts of a castle correctly. We look forward to learning more exciting facts about Castles in the weeks to come.

The Cylinders and Pyramids were introduced to the 4 times table this week and we are getting faster at our times table challenges.  Our time challenge is now set at 8 seconds.

With Miss Owens we have been learning more about Symmetry and making shapes symmetrical.

In P.E we have been practising our games including 4 corner dodgeball and tunnel tig and using our team building skills better.  We also learned how to run safely and quickly.

We continue to practise our P2 show ‘Tagpole Rag’ and we are busy learning our speaking parts for our show after the Easter holidays.

In our writing this week we created a wanted poster for our own dragons who might be helping us with our Castles topic.

P2A’s week

We welcomed a new teacher to our class.  Welcome Miss Owens.  We are really looking forward to learning new exciting things.

In our maths groups we have been learning our times tables.  The spheres have been busy learning their 2 and 5 times tables and the Cylinders have been busy learning the 2,3,5 and 10 times tables.

Next week we will be learning the 4 times table and we will be setting ourselves some challenges.

With Miss Owens we have been learning more about Chinese New Year and we made wonderful Chinese Lanterns.

Some of us are really excited to be on reading chapter books in our reading groups.

In French this week we learned how to say Bon Appetit and we learned how to say the names of some fruit and vegetables.

This week we watched ‘Brave’ to end our Scottish topic.  We are looking forward to starting our new topic about Dungeons and Dragons.

In our maths work we have started learning our 2 and 5 times tables and have been busy practising our games.

Next week starts Chinese New Year and it is the year of the Monkey. We learned that the Dragon Dance wards off evil spirits and we made super dragon masks for our puppet theatre.  We will be learning about the Lion Dance next week.

We have been continuing with adding our money and we are getting really good at giving change back.

This week we have been busy writing the story of the Magic Snowman.  We have been busy looking at stories with a beginning, middle and end and we have tried to include this in our own writing.  We found this a bit tricky.

We designed our own clan shields as part of our Scotland topic and we are looking forward to finding out more about Merida’s adventures in Brave.
