Another busy and exciting week!

This week on our trip around the world we were in Saudi Arabia. We researched lots of facts about Saudi Arabia, we learnt about the different customs and culture of the Arabs. Arabs wear different clothes from us, their clothes are loose and long and we found that this was so that they don’t get hot and sweaty as Saudi Arabia is a desert and so it gets very hot. We got the chance to dress up in these clothes. We also looked at a special building for Muslims – this was a mosque in Makkah, near Jeddah. It had a black cube decorated with gold embroidery and a gold spout, in the middle of it. All Muslims face in this direction for their prayers wherever they are in the world. We used a net for a cube to build our own representation of the Kaaba and coloured in a geometric pattern to make the doorway covering for the Kaaba. Here they write from the right to the left and Mrs. Ghafoor showed us how to write our names in Arabic. It was tricky but we all did a super job!

We were given cut pieces of a picture and had to redraw this onto a larger piece of paper, using exactly what we could see, we then coloured it in. When Mrs. Ghafoor put all the pieces together we had created a mosaic picture of PC Arnott. This was very tricky as we didn’t really know what part of the picture we were recreating! It looked fab.

On Thursday we went to watch the performance of The Wizard of Oz by the Primary 6’s followed by more music with Miss Doolan. Just before lunch we went to WHS Smith to choose a book with our book token. They very kindly let us choose another book or small item for free as well. All in all an exciting week.
