A Spooky Start to Term 2

Halloween

We had lots of fun in the Sensory Room this week.  It was transformed into a spooky house with lots of cobwebs, spiders and even a skeleton!  We enjoyed exploring the different textures in the spooky house and used Halloween torches to project scary images onto the walls.

We have been very busy creating some Halloween themed crafts.  We designed our own monsters, made scary skeletons and created spider art work.

Maths

We have been working hard at maths time to complete addition and subtraction calculations using a range of methods.  Cameron likes to use his fingers and sometimes he ‘just knows the answer in his head!’  Jayden is great at using his number line to help with addition and subtraction.  Lewis introduced us to a new iPad app which helps with our addition and subtraction.  Thanks Lewis!

We created a season wheel, which we will turn to help us remember which season it is and the order of the seasons.  We can link annual events with the different seasons, such as Easter, Christmas, Halloween and Bonfire Night.

Floor Books

Jayden has started to create his very own floor book.  Jayden enjoys telling the children and adults in class 1 about his holiday to India.  We enjoy listening to Jayden and asking him questions to find out more about India.  Jayden enjoys drawing the flag of India and showing his peers and teachers where India is on the globe.  We are looking forward to learning more about India as Jayden continues to add to his floor book.

Reflection Time

On Fridays, we take time to think about our week and what have been learning.  This week we enjoyed reflecting on our targets.  We each chose a small prize from the treasure chest as our targets had reached the end of our target treasure maps!

We also took time to discuss how the adults in class 1 help us.  Here are our thoughts:

David – ‘The adults in class 1 help me.  Mrs Nicol and David work.’

Jayden – ‘The adults in class 1 help me with making lighthouse.’

Joe – ‘Miss Cameron helps me with my drawing.’

Cameron – ‘The adults in class 1 help me when I hurt myself.’

Lewis – ‘The adults in class 1 help me with making my monster.’

Yolie – ‘Miss Barrie helps with my reading, Mrs Nicol helps with painting and Miss Cameron helps with drawing and scissors.’

Yolie created a wonderful model, to show how the adults in class 1 help.

  1. Wow Class 1, the sensory room activities look fantastic. Well done Lewis for sharing the new app to help the other boys and girls in the class.

  2. Sensory room looks very spooky indeed, Class 1. Your floor book looks very interesting Jayden. I would like to see it and learn more about India too.
I agree, the adults in Class 1 help you all in lots of different ways.
