Our Work on Litter 2024/2025
Working with our partners at the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, P4/5 carried out an investigation to find out about the types of litter in our playground bins and sorted the waste into categories. We found a variety of plastics and paper waste and a lot of crisp packets! We did some research to learn about what happens to our litter and what damage it can do to the environment and the animals which live there. After, we shared our learning at Together Time to ensure the whole school is aware of how to keep the playground safe and tidy.
We then explored the burn in our school grounds to find out which creatures lived there. We found some interesting living things and with the help of the rangers, we were able to learn more about them.
Literacy & Expressive Art Cross Curricular Learning
We used what we learned to design and present posters for a campaign to raise awareness of the problem of pollution in our environment, both on land and in the waterways. Feedback from children and staff in the school showed the posters were helpful to remind everyone about the importance of recycling litter correctly.
