What does it mean to be a global citizen?
A global citizen is someone who is aware of and understands the wider world – and their place in it. They take an active role in their community and work with others to make our planet more peaceful, sustainable and fairer.  This links very nicely with Drymen’s Shared Values of Kindness, Respect & Teamwork.
This leadership group have been very busy:
-Harvest Assembly & Start Up Stirling Appeal
-Using STEM to look at ‘Beat the Flood’ and the Floating Garden Challenge
-Organising a whole-school shoebox appeal
-Creating calendars for the elderly in our community who have been isolating during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please see photos below for all of the global citizenship activities from our Action Plan and school display.
“Before Christmas, we thought of others who were less fortunate than ourselves.  After watching a video of a family who lived in a cold, leaking shack in Romania; we decided to organise a whole school Shoebox Appeal.  Our school collected 44 shoeboxes and Blytheswood Care came to collect them in a lorry.”
We organised a whole school shoebox appeal
“We organised a Harvest Assembly to collect  foods for ‘Start Up Stirling’; a food bank for families in our local community.”
Our Harvest Assembly collected food for the local community.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided to make and deliver creative advent calendars for elderly relative and friends who were isolating.  One of our School Values in Kindness.  “
We made calendars to remind those isolating we cared.
