S3 Music Technology

S3 pupils have two periods of Music Technology each week. One period involves creating a project in a chosen context (building on work from S2) and the other covers a listening course which explores genres, processes and effects appropriate at this level.

 

S2 (2 blocks of 9 lessons) S3 (2ppw)
Block 1 – Radio Broadcast

  • Given a script, learn about basic recording set up and skills and record script.
    • Using loops to create a jingle of 3 or 4 parts. 
    • Importing audio sound effects.
  • Develop skills in BandLab to sequence and record the above data correctly and effectively;
  • Learn to use volume automation and reverb.

October Holiday
Skills DevelopmentProject 1 – sound design for a short Animation Clip.  This will involve planning, implementing, recording progress and process, and evaluating in detail.

Music Concepts

Block 2 – Sound Design for Game

  • Choose a recording of a game being played;
  • Complete in-depth planning on what will be needed;
  • Use a preset sound effects site to select and export sound files;
  • Develop skills in Cubase to sequence the above data correctly;
  • Finalise and evaluate their project;
  • Peer-assess others’ work.

 

Winter Holiday
Skills DevelopmentProject 1 – pupils will finalise and complete this project.

Project 2 – Audiobook – This will involve planning, implement, recording progress and process, and evaluating in detail.
