Primary 6

Primary 6 Class Page Term 3

Numeracy

This term we are finishing work about money, applying our fractions and percentages learning to this. We will then focus on time, shape, angles and symmetry.

Literacy

In reading we will be focusing on how an author uses writing tools to have an effect on us as the reader.  While  in writing, we will be exploring how a writer uses describes to create a picture for the reader.

Topic

We will start our Clyde in the Classroom project with a trip to Glasgow Science Centre and then will raise brown trout from eggs in the classroom before setting them free in the Nethan!

Homework

Numeracy – 10 minutes of Sumdog each day. The more questions your child answers, the more tailored it becomes to what they need to learn. So short daily use (10-15 minutes) is brilliant and will lead to great progress in these areas. Your support for this is very much appreciated.

Spelling – the children follow the same spelling routine each week.

Monday – Blue Vowels and Number of syllables in each word.

Tuesday – Look and Say and Cover and write and Check twice.

Wednesday – Pyramids or Build Up

Thursday – Get an adult to check you know your words and practise any you don’t yet know.

Topic – Research a Scottish specie of your choice. Present your information in an attractive mini topic using the jotter provided or a4 paper. See Success Criteria issued in class. Due Friday 31st march.

Scots Poetry – Learn Burns’ poem  for 25th January.
