Literacy
Reading: Use your reading book or any book at home to complete some open ended reading tasks such as:
- Create a new front cover or blurb
- Summarise chapters
- Predict what is going to happen next… no peeking!
- Create a new ending
- Rename the chapters
- Create a character profile

Spelling:
Using your weekly spelling words and carry out some active spelling strategies such as:
- Write a letter to someone famous including all your words
- Rainbow writing
- Diacritical marking
- Acrostic poems
- Go outside and write your words in the snow!
If you don’t yet have your spelling words, try to find 10 spelling words about winter wether.
Writing:
- Write a biography about someone you know or someone famous
- Write a recount of a special day or the day you have just had in the snow – Remember to write in past tense, in order and try to add in those sequential words!
- Make up a silly story with your spelling words
Numeracy
- Sum Dog – see if you can beat someone else in the class who is having a snow day!
- Top Marks games
- Get someone in your house to make you chimney sums
- Roll a dice and make your own sums
- Write out your times tables
Other
- Make a model using a combination of household items and snow linked to your topic.
- Using your knowledge of facts and opinions, make a poster to show your learning from your topic. Feel free to research a new topic and create a poster about that if you wish, just remember to include key facts and opinions!
Finally, if you can, want to and are allowed, go outside and have fun!
