Weather update for Wednesday

Here is the latest from South Lanarkshire Council regarding closures tomorrow –

We will update this website tomorrow morning if there is a closure.

We are working on the basis that the school will be open as normal.

Please check the website and your emails if you are subscribed – as opposed to phoning the school. If we are advised to close we will post it and send out an alert instantly.

Active Schools volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to help with lunchtime clubs! Active schools are providing any training you may need and this will be in the form of certified sports qualifications.

The initial meeting to find out more will take place in school on the 17th January (Next Wednesday) at lunchtime from 12.30pm – 1:15pm.

Please check your child’s homelink for the information letter, and should you wish to help or if you have any more questions please contact the school. This is a great chance to help boost the physical activity of lots of children and make a real difference!

Primary 7 transition day

Primary 7 will take part in their first transition day at the high school on Friday 19th January. The children should come to Woodpark as normal to be registered then they will walk down to the high school. They will return to Woodpark at approx 11am.

How to have a healthy media diet!

Now Christmas has been and gone, many children will have received some kind of electrical gadget from Santa and it has quickly turned into their new hobby!

The amount of time children are spending on screens is rising dramatically every year and parents around the world have concerns about the amount of time their child is spending on technology. If you are feeling like this…you are not alone!

Over the coming weeks we will be trying to help you make technology a positive influence in the house and not let it become a negative daily fight.

Many of the hints and tips over the coming weeks come from the excellent Common Sense Media website. They strive to keep adults of all ages up to date with the newest advancements in technology. They also offer many hints and tips that come from parental success stories and what people from around the world are dealing with.

All of the information over the coming weeks will be stored in the ‘Parent Zone’ section of our website for you to refer to at any time.
