🌺 Poppy Appeal 🌺

The Poppy Appeal starts in Woodpark today. Poppies will be on sale all week with a suggested minimum donation of 20p. All proceeds go to the Scottish Poppy Appeal.

Bus home today

We have just left Lockerbie and we will be home at approximately 2:30pm. The bus will reverse into the car park and the children will come into the gym hall via the fire doors.

Once they have double-checked they have all their belongings, parents/carers are free to take them home!

Thursday November 3rd Sessions

Next Thursday (3rd Nov) we will be holding our annual information evenings for –

  • Supporting reading in the lower school and RSHP
  • Internet Safety and Awareness

The reading and RSHP workshop will give parents of younger children a great chance to see how we support reading in school and how this crucial skill can be supported at home. It will also be a chance to hear about our RSHP program in the school which has recently been refreshed.

The Internet Safety and Awareness session will be exploring the latest trends and dangers our children face online. It is a good chance to share our experiences and discuss ways to keep our young people as safe as possible.

The Reading and RSHP Workshop will run from 5:45 – 6:15pm (during the junior Halloween Disco) in the Primary 1 classroom, after which parents/carers can collect their child at 6:30pm.

The Internet Safety and Awareness Session will run from 7:15pm – 7:45pm (during the senior Halloween Disco) in the Primary 7 classroom, after which parents/carers can collect their child at 8pm.

The reading and RSHP workshop is aimed at Primary 1 parents, but others from lower school are welcome to attend.

The internet safety session is aimed at Primary 4 – 7 children but all parents/carers are welcome to attend.

We really hope to see as many of you there as possible to help support your child’s learning and safety.

WE HAVE A PODCAST!

We have kept this very quiet…but Woodpark Primary now has our very own podcast!

The podcast is called ‘A View From the Wood’ and will explore all the issues the children want to talk about related to both school and the wider world.

The Primary 7 children are the only ones who have known about it until now – and they have been very excited!

We would love as many people as possible to support our podcast by listening on Spotify or Amazon Music (we are working on getting it on Apple Music) – so please share the link and the podcast with as many people are you can!

Exciting news…

Our new house captains and vice-captains have been working on an exciting new project today! Stay tuned for more details coming soon…

Mobile Phones

A number of mobile phones have been finding their way into school since returning for the new term. Could we please ask all parents and carers to make sure phones are not being brought into school. This is for a number of reasons – but particularly due to photography risks and damage to phones.

If there is a specific reason your child needs to bring a phone on an occasion, it must be agreed with the school beforehand. In all other cases we would ask for your help in keeping phones at home.

Thank you for your help.

THANK YOU!

Thank you so much to everyone who came today and helped make Sports Day such a fun event!

It has been wonderful having parents and carers back in school over the past few days and we really appreciate the feeling of community.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Tesco for again supporting us with fruit and additional funds for Sports Day.
