- 23rd November, 3:30pm – 5pm in Hallside Primary “STEM Through Stories” This course aims to introduce practitioners to the potential of using stories and tales to develop and encourage STEM skills within the classroom at Early, First and Second level. STEM tales are a great way to foster teamwork and problem solving and a perfect way to model a growth mindset. During this course, practitioners will access resources and planners which will develop STEM skills and achieve Es and Os across the wider curricular areas at all levels. National STEM Network meetings are a series of 6 different sessions aimed to support primary practitioners running from September 2023 – May 2024. You can attend all of these session or, if you wish, attend those that interest you the most.
The sessions are great for sharing and learning together.

Here’s what’s happening in February 2022:
YESC’s Climate Smarter Programme 8th, 9th or 10th virtual training 3:45- 5:15pm
Climate Smarter information below (not in newsletter): An exciting topical project for second and third level pupils. This project is designed to enthuse and inspire pupils to think creatively to come up with solutions to the biggest global problems to face them, now, and in their future. The project takes them on a journey of investigation and experimentation to look at how we can tackle the climate emergency.
A free kit box is provided for each school and the experiments/ activities can be delivered as one-off sessions in an extra-curricular club over several weeks or alongside other lessons as a full programme with a class. The programme culminates in the pupils designing and building models of their future school, incorporating all their research into energy efficiency, smart controls, electricity generation, responsible water and sustainable building material use. A hands-on professional learning on a series of lessons based on subsea industries.
Science experience and outcomes at first and second level and we have provision for 10 SLC primary schools to participate with no cost to your school.
As part of the professional learning, you will have access to a kit box which contains the practical resources required to engage in these lessons with your learners.

This session is targeted at NQTs but we would love to welcome any other class teachers who may be interested to become a Tutor Assessor for the non-formal (Second Level).
