⚙️ “If you were an engineer, what would you do?” – Leaders Award

The “If you were an engineer, what would you do?” Leaders Award is a fantastic way to bring engineering into the classroom through a creative, real-world challenge.
Open to learners of all ages across Early Years, primary and secondary, the competition invites pupils to explore a key question:
👉 If you were an engineer, what problem would you solve?
Learners are encouraged to:
- Interview a real engineer to gain insight and inspiration
- Identify a real-world problem
- Design a solution through an annotated illustration
- Develop their ideas through persuasive writing, explaining their invention
This provides a highly engaging, interdisciplinary experience, combining engineering, creativity, literacy and problem-solving.

The programme is easy to deliver in the classroom, with:

- Opportunities to arrange virtual or in-person sessions with engineers
- Access to recordings of previous engineer talks
