STEM Strategy

🔬 STEM Education and Training Strategy

In 2017, the Scottish Government published the STEM Education and Training Strategy for Scotland, setting out an ambitious vision for Scotland to become a world-leading STEM nation. The strategy is built around four key themes: inspiration, excellence, connection and equity.

To support this, Education Scotland developed a range of resources to help practitioners access high-quality professional learning, research and support. These resources aim to:

  • Provide easy access to STEM learning materials and professional learning opportunities
  • Connect schools with a wide range of STEM organisations and partners
  • Support whole-school approaches through initiatives such as the STEM Nation Award
  • Share ideas and effective practice from across Scotland

In 2022, the strategy was refreshed, recognising that many of the original challenges and opportunities remain, while reinforcing the importance of continued focus and development in STEM education.
