Since August 2021, the SLC Youth Forum on Climate Change and Sustainability has continued to lead a wide range of initiatives designed to strengthen young people’s understanding of climate change and sustainability while empowering them to take meaningful action within their schools and communities.
During 2024–2025, the forum focused on delivering its third climate conference for primary learners, under the theme “EARTH” (Energy, Apparel, 3Rs, Trees and Habitat ).
The conference brought together P5–P7 learners from across South Lanarkshire, providing an opportunity for younger pupils to explore climate and sustainability issues through engaging, interactive workshops led by Youth Forum members and partner organisations. The event aimed to build early awareness of environmental responsibility while highlighting the importance of collective action and positive climate leadership. Through a series of hands-on activities and collaborative discussions, learners were encouraged to consider the role they can play in caring for the planet and supporting a more sustainable future.
