Cost of the School Day at Black Mount

At Black Mount Primary School, we want every child to feel included and able to make the most of every opportunity school has to offer, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. Guided by the Scottish Government’s Cost of the School Day approach and South Lanarkshire Council’s commitment to reducing financial barriers, we carefully consider the cost of school life and work hard to keep expenses to a minimum for our families.

Wherever possible, we provide affordable and inclusive opportunities, signpost families to available support, and ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation. By taking this approach, we help ensure that every child can learn, achieve and fully enjoy their time at Black Mount Primary School.

How Can We Help?

At Black Mount Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that no child misses out on opportunities because of cost. If you ever have concerns about the affordability of any aspect of school life, please contact us in confidence. We will always do our best to help and support families.

Some of the ways we can help include:

• Educational Trips – Cost will never prevent a child from taking part in a school trip or educational excursion during the school day.
• School Uniform – Our uniform is designed to be affordable, with branded items remaining optional. We can also provide information on school clothing grants and access to pre-loved uniform items.
• School Meals – We can help families access Free School Meals and other available supports, ensuring that our children can enjoy a healthy meal during the school day.
• Clubs, Activities and Events – We work hard to provide free or low-cost opportunities throughout the year and ensure that all children can take part in the wider life of the school.
• Learning at Home – We carefully plan homework and home learning activities so that families are not expected to purchase resources or materials.

If you think we can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. By working together, we can ensure that every child feels included, supported and able to enjoy all that Black Mount Primary School has to offer.
