Happy holiday

We have had a fun day today. We watched a DVD (Pan) and played on the iPads and laptops. We had assembly where we watched a few video clips ( One of the p7 trip to Aberdeen one of p6 and one of the staff doing a funny holiday video). We also got a few presents from miss Nicholson which we really liked. We have been listening to music on YouTube too and dancing along to it. We also had a little party in the afternoon.

Have a really good summer holiday everyone!

Designing our own mascots

On Wednesday, after lunch we designed our own Olympic mascots. Some of the boys weren’t there because they were at the football tournament but most of us were there. First we looked at some of the old mascots. The first official Olympic mascot was in 1972 in Munich and it was a dachshund called Waldi. It was a dachshund because they come from Germany. The mascots  for London 2012 were called Mandeville and Wenlock. Wenlock was named after the Shropshire town of Much Wenlock which held a forerunner of the current Olympic Games. Mandeville was named after the Stoke Mandeville Hospital, in Buckinghamshire that initially organised the Stoke Mandevillle games which led to the Paralympic Games. The mascots for Rio 2016 are called Vimicius and Tom.  After we’d looked at some of the old mascots, we got to design our own ones. It was really fun.

sports day

On Monday the 13th of June we had sports day. We were really lucky for such a nice day. 1st was the 30m sprint for primary 4-7 then. The 20m sprint for primary 1-3  then the next race was the sack race. The next race was the tattie race. After that race was the 3 legged race for primary 4-7, primary 1-3 did the quoit race. Then it was the 3 lap race. Then if you wanted you could do the 8 lap race after that it was the little ones race then the adults race. After that we had a picnic lunch outside in Gotties garding.
