Fiddle

I have been playing fiddle for 4 months. I go to High level music. I have just got 3 new tunes. They are called: The Hurlocks Reel by Tom Anderson, The Rakes of Mallow and the Reel of  Tullochgorum. The hardest one is probably the Hurlocks reel because it is hard to get the timing right and the easiest one is the Reel of tullochgorum. I have two other tunes called the Stronsay wedding and the Queens 4 Mary’s. They are easy. I have pink rosin.

On 6th of December High level had a Xmas concert  at the Big kirk and everyone that gets lessons at high level went. There was over a 100 fiddlers. We played jingle bells, silent night and we wish you a merry Christmas. I also learnt Rudolph the red nosed reindeer but we didn’t play that at the concert. Ashleigh, Evan and Brooke were at the concert too playing their fiddles.

On Sunday I went to another concert it was in cunningsburgh. I didn’t know anyone there except Kirsten my fiddle teacher. We played our Christmas tunes.

On Thursday the school had a instrumental concert I played my fiddle and ruby and Evan and brook played there fiddles to I played jingle bells.

Instrumental Concert

We had an instrumental concert this morning. The whole school gathered in the dinning hall to hear them.  There were a lot of pupils from P5-7 performing songs for us, there were a lot of Christmas songs that we could sing along with. There were people playing the fiddles, a flute, a recorder, the piano and the guitar.

They all did a fantastic job of performing in front of the whole school! Well done to everyone who took part.

The Play

On Thursday the 10th of December we did our Christmas play. We have been doing lots of rehearsals. It was called the 12 Days of Christmas. The story was about Mr Partridge’s Amazing Performing Troupe, Father Christmas, Mrs Christmas, Mo Christmas, Nasty Grimgrump, Mrs Grimgrump and Jo Grimgrump. There was lots of songs in the play.  There was also lots of characters. There was 12 lords, 11 ladies, 10 drummers, 9 pipers, 8 maids, 7 swans, 6 geese, 5 gold rings, 4 colley birds, 3 French hens, 2 turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree in Mr Partridge’s troupe. I was a maid in the play. The decorations were very good and so were all the costumes. Most of the play went very well except from the part when the CD broke and we had to get another one.

Visitors to Primary 4/5

We had elves visit our classroom last night, they sent us a sneaky visit of their visit. They left footprints though so we could see where they had been.

They even left us a note!

This is what it said.

The robin appeared in our classroom in the middle of the day when we were singing Christmas carols, it must have been visiting Santa again to tell him how we are getting on.

magic robin!

We have a robin in our class room. yesterday we saw the robin next to the cupboard but today when we were practicing our songs when suddenly someone spotted the robin on top of the projector! It was very mysterious. this morning the robin went to tell Santa and some people were a bit naughty.

THE END!

This is a true story.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We have been extremely busy this term. We are rehearsing for our play which is the 12 days of Christmas. We have also made Christmas decorations to decorate the Tingwall hall. It looks great! Primary 2/3 made Christmas baubles, they made a great job of them. We will try to take pictures of the hall if we can to show you. Here is some of the decorations we made.

We also made a snowman out of cups (we’re not sure how many we used but there must be over a 200 hundred!) We haven’t had time to make his hat yet but we thought he was too fragile to take down to the hall so he sits in our classroom instead! 🙂 Here he is…

Miss Nicholson brought in an advent calendar so each morning she uses the lolly sticks to see who gets to open the drawer for that day. We’re lucky we have 25 pupils in the class and there is exactly 25 days on the advent calendar.

We also have a different kind of advent calendar. Miss Nicholson created a 25 Random Acts of Christmas Kindness. We check this every morning and try to see if we can do them!

One of Santa’s robins has appeared in our classroom to make sure we are being good! He is there one minute and then he disappears sometimes so he must be reporting back to santa! When he comes back he is in a different place so we don’t know where he is all the time.
