P7B have started this term by learning about the differences between singing in unison and singing in a round.
Singing in unison is an easier skill to master than singing in a round as everyone is singing the same thing at the same time. In round singing, we sing the same melody, but two or more people/groups start the song at a different time which means they also end at a different time.
Singing in a round produces overlapping harmonies and gives the music layers, enhancing the texture of the sound – elements of music which P7B have already learned about but are now putting into context.
Below are a couple of informative slides and also the audio file of the class singing in 4 groups which is an incredibly difficult thing to do! Not only do they need to sing accurately, in terms of pitch and melody, but they’ve also got to really focus on their listening skills as well as their sense of pulse. Well done P7B – good effort!

Good morning, I hope you have all been enjoying the snowy weather. It has been great weather for sledging and building in the snow.
Below you will find some optional home learning activities.
Good morning and happy new year!
Below is today’s home learning grid with some activities that can be completed today. Most importantly, I hope you have lots of fun in the snow.
In art P7 have been looking at the artist Jaqueline Hurely. We have tried to recreate her style using paint, charcoal, chalk and charcoal pencils. Using these materials we have focused on creating texture for the background before drawing out a silhouette image.
The final effects are beautiful, very thought provoking.

Today Primary 7 had a visit from the Dogs Against Drugs team. We learned lots about how to keep ourselves and others safe.
Well done to Primary 7, who have raised a whopping £530 for Children in Need today. They collaborated to make and run various activities from hair and jewellery design to games and head bands. Well done P7!
