We had great fun learning about the life-cycle of a duck and witnessing it firsthand. We took care of 12 duck eggs in an incubator in our classroom for 4 weeks. 10 out of 12 eggs hatched and 2 of them hatched during school time so the children got to see them trying to push their way out of their shell. When they were ready, we transferred them from the incubator and they stayed under a heat plate to keep warm. They grew so quickly, when they were old enough we let them have a paddle in water, they loved it! We kept them for 2 weeks then they went back to the Croft that we got the eggs from. It was such an exciting learning experience for the children (and the staff!)
