Storyline

We made a story-line with Miss Morrison. If you follow the path then you will find out the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. We enjoyed creating all the pictures to go along with the story and making a long, colourful path. Best of all we love telling the story to people as they walk down the story path. We like putting on different voices for the different characters! 🙂

STEM towers

Me and Mairianne made a mini Eiffel tower out of marshmallows and raw spaghetti and it had a cross to make it more stable. It fell over a few times and we had to cut the marshmallows. We cut the spaghetti to make it the right length and to make it stronger so it didn’t fall over. We used more spaghetti to make it stronger as well. Our tower was the tallest.

STEM challenge

We had to make a structure out of spaghetti and marshmallows we were split into teams one team was Mairianne  and  Thomas and the other was me Vaila  and John. Our team we put lots of spaghetti together and we made crosses of spaghetti on the roof  it was fun building it but it fell over a few times. We needed a strong foundation to support our structure. We want to try the challenge again to see if we can make a taller tower.

Measuring in Maths

We are learning about measuring in maths.  Capacity  is fun, working with water is very wet we are learning how to measure volume. We use meters sticks and rulers to measure the length of things. We used kg and g to weigh different things. It is very exciting  and good. capacity is my favourite one in the world.

I Have a Dream!

Last week we were discussing our ambitions. We were learning about Martin Luther King Jr and his hopes and dreams. We watched his famous ‘I Have a Dream’ speech and discussed what made him such a talented public speaker. We wrote a speech about our future plans and dreams and then read them confidently to the rest of the class. Dream big, work hard! 🙂

Rare Bird Alert!

This week there was a Rufous Turtle Dove in our playground! It was only the 3rd Shetland record, less than 20 have occurred in the UK! Scott’s Grandad first spotted the rare bird on Monday and on Tuesday some bird watchers came up to North Roe to see the Rufous Turtle Dove. The bird has probably come all the way from Russia! Thanks to Hugh for this lovely picture.

#hotchocfri

Vaila was our STAR pupil this week. She enjoyed her hot chocolate treat today! Vaila has been star pupil for her kind and caring nature. Vaila is very patient with the younger pupils, always offering to help them and looking after them in the playground. A well deserved hot chocolate! Well done Vaila 🙂

Rhyming Words

Yesterday primary 1 and 2 received another letter from the magic dragon of Fairyland. Their Fairyland adventures took them all the way to Jack and the Beanstalk. They had a great time learning all about the day Jack met a giant! Robbie, Nynke and Dana had to use the magic beans to make rhyming words. They did a fantastic job! 🙂

A Balancing Act!

Robbie did very well balancing objects and walking across the room to the hoop. At first it was too easy for him so Miss Morrison decided to make it harder and he still did it no bother!

He made a happy, sad and worried face today, thinking about what the Gingerbread Man felt at different parts of the story.

Our Kindness Wreath

We are so happy because we have filled our kindness wreath! Our kindness wreath started with no ribbons on it, when someone did or said something kind, Miss Irvine would add a ribbon to the kindness wreath. When the wreath was full, Miss Irvine said we would have a party to celebrate all the kind things we said and did! We’re looking forward to our party next week…kindness is contagious! 🙂
