It’s DECEMBER!!!! We opened the first drawer of our advent calendar today. We also have a Christmas stories advent calendar. Every day until the last day of term we are going to choose a wrapped up story to open and read. We don’t know what the stories will be until we open them! Today Robbie opened our first story parcel, it was a pop-up story called ‘Santa’s Snowy Surprise’ it was a great story about a trick that Santa’s Elves play on him! 🙂

Primary 3 – 7 are getting good at sharing their learning in maths by explaining their strategies to the rest of the class. During our ‘Countdown Challenge’ the children are given a set of numbers that they can add, subtract, multiply and/or divide to get the given answer. Here is Mairianne and Scott explaining how they completed the countdown challenge.

Primary 1 and 2 have been busy with Miss Morrison transforming the role play area into a sweet shop. The children have to use their measuring skills to weigh out the sweets using the balance scales and use their addition and subtraction skills to work out how much money the customer has to pay and how much change they should get back.

The Giant from our Jack and the Beanstalk story book has been to our school and left us a maths challenge! He left behind some footprints when he visited the school and he asked us to find things that were longer than his footprint, shorter than his footprint and the same length as his footprint, then we had to measure all the different things we found.
