School Trip

As part of our ‘Rainforests’ topic, we have been learning about responsibility and sustainability. We have been learning how we can reduce, re-use and recycle all the things we use instead of just throwing things away. We went on a school trip to the Shetland Energy Recovery Plant and learned how non-recyclable waste is burned to create the energy needed to heat the water for the district heating in Lerwick. We also went to the Gremista base to find out what happens to the waste that can be recycled. We saw some plastic all ready to be shipped south to be recycled.
