Friday 2 February 2024

This week we have moved on to talk about our next sense “sight”.   The children have been joining in with lots of discussion about our eyes and how important they are.  There has been lots of activities around using our eyes to help us see.  We have been talking about the colours we can see around us, joining in with colour scavenger hunts, making binoculars and finding hidden objects.

We have also had a visit from the Shetland Library Van, the children were able to select their own books to bring into the nursery library and will be able to swap them around when the van visits again.

Construction toys are always a huge hit in the nursery and they will often ask to get different types of blocks out.  It is lovely to see how focused the children are when they are building and hearing all their stories about what their models can do.

We also had a visit from Eleanor from UHI who came along to the nursery for some STEM activities.  She brought along Botley, a little robot to teach children about coding.  The children had great fun with this, putting in the different codes to see what Botley would do.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
