Friday 9th February

This week we have moved on to the sense of ‘smell’.   The children have been making scented cloud dough, spice painting and painting with herbal teas.  There has been lots of discussion around favourite smells and trying to work out what things were by guessing the smell.

Inside the children have enjoyed pattern making and making different models with the stacking rainbow toy.  The rainbow has been a mermaids tail and a gateway into Jurassic park.

The children have spent so much time playing out in the snow this week.   Great fun was had sliding down the hill in the garden. There was also lots of problem solving going on, working out the best way to get back up the hill as it was so slippy.   The snow was also a great blank canvas for practicing mark making skills.  The children found sticks to draw with and practice writing their names and using the pipets with coloured water to make different shapes and pictures.

To end the week we had a visit from the Nesting and Girlsta Up Helly Aa squad.   The children spent a lot of time making their shields, helmets and torches ready.
