10th March 2023. What a spectacular day that was enjoyed by everyone. The weather for perfect, snow with sunshine for our P7 Jarl Squad led by Jade aka Lagertha- the victorious shield maiden to walk through the ranks to follow the fire engine down to the pitch to set light to the galley, built by John, which has sat for 3 years in the school hall, waiting for this moment. It was great to be joined by many parents and members of the community as well as the fire service and marshals. Thank you all. Guiser Jarl Jimmy aka Einar Hjaltendingur and his squad joined us in the school hall in the afternoon for a rousing version of the Up Helly Aa song as well as the school’s own Jimmy the Jarl song. A great time was had by all. Thanks again for all came along to support this wonderful day.

Primary 1/2 trip to Lerwick Observatory
Just to make parents aware that the Primary 1/2 trip to the Lerwick Observatory has been cancelled for health and safety reasons. The site is very snowy and icy and the staff feel it is safer to postpone rather than go ahead.
Apologies for the last minute information but discussions have been going on and weather dependent. We hope to rearrange this trip and will inform you in due course as to when it will be.
