Industrial action affecting schools, Thursday 24 November 2022

Thursday 17 November 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Industrial action affecting schools, Thursday 24 November 2022

Shetland Islands Council have been informed that members of two teaching unions, the Education Institute for Scotland (EIS) and the Association of Head Teachers and Deputes in Scotland (AHDS) have voted to undertake industrial action on Thursday 24 November.

The school will therefore be closed for children and young people on Thursday 24 November.

The early learning and childcare setting will be also be closed.

I will write to you again, if there are any further developments or changes to the position on the planned school closure day, ahead of Thursday 24 November.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Gina Finch

Children In Need Day

Children in Need Day:  18th November:  This will be an opportunity to have some fun- children are  invited to wear something wacky and spotty- if they would like to.  Any donations can be made online at Donate to BBC Children in Need .  Pupil  Council have decided that to add to the fun of the day they would like to see if the school together can  fill an  outline Pudsey head with bronze coins-  those that weigh down purses or fall down the back of the sofa. Children are invited to collect together any spare 1p and 2p coins to bring in for this challenge on Friday 18th Nov. Whatever is collected will be donated to Children in Need

Hamper Raffle

Hamper Raffle – We are holding our annual hamper raffle. Each class and nursery will gather together a range of goodies around the themes below.  All donations gratefully received by 18th November.  Raffle numbers will go on sale from 21st November with the Prize draw taking place on 5th December.

This is our main fundraiser, so we really hope it does well.
