On Monday 26th June, our JRSOs visited the Town Hall, along with 33 other pupils from across Shetland, to share all of the brilliant work they have been doing in school to promote road safety awareness
Councillor Robbie McGregor presented them with certificates, recognising their efforts over the past academic year.
Well done to you all! What fantastic representatives of our school!
Our Junior Road Safety Officers have been reading to the Nursery children this week, helping them to learn more about staying safe when out and about. They spent their lunchtimes choosing books and preparing questions to ask the children. The group want to make sure road safety messages are being shared with everyone in the school.
Our JRSOs are already planning their next whole school event which looks like a lot of fun! They will be sharing more information about this soon!
Let me introduce our new Junior Road Safety Officers for this session. Today they met with Elaine Skinley who gave them lots of Road Safety goodies to use throughout the year with the classes in the school.
We had our first meeting last week and the group have already filled a page with ideas of things they want to do this year. Road Safety Week is coming up next term so keep an eye out for some exciting things happening in school!
Here are the winning designs from the recent JRSO competition to design a t-shirt which would be clearly seen by traffic during the day.

The group were amazed by all of the super designs, but decided that out of all of the entries, they would award Kayla Smith in P6 as the overall winner! Here they are with their designs.
