Fiddle Group

Willum, Elsie and Leva will be part of a fiddle group playing at a concert as part of the Fiddle and Accordion Festival this weekend.

I was lucky enough to see them practice this morning, they were absolutely brilliant.

Unfortunately there have been technical issues with getting the video posted, so I’m afraid the photo will have to do for now.

Our instrument instructors all work so hard to support the children in learning an instrument, and it is very clear how much these three are enjoying the experience!

Exciting News Coming Soon!

This week, the remaining Pupil Council Members from last year had a trip to Art Machine in Lerwick.

Art Machine are supporting us to develop displays for the school for our new Vision, Values and Aims that were developed last year.

We have a couple more trips to finalise things, but it was a great to see everything that Art Machine can do.

Music Festival Celebration

This week has been a busy one for our musicians! We have had lots of pupils perform at the Shetland Youth Music Festival, from individuals, duets and small groups. Well done to them all!

Last night The Ness Narwhals were invited back to play at the Gala Concert. This group is down to the hard work of Annalie Irvine, our Strings Instructor. We were so proud to hear that they had won the trophy for best Small Group.

Also, a special mention to Elska, who also played solo on the piano at the Gala Concert.

What an amazing group of musicians,

that truly did the school proud!

On Friday 3rd May we were lucky enough to have some special guests in school; visiting Folk Festival Band, The Fretless, they had travelled all the way from Canada! They were absolutely fantastic, they had us all dancing and very well entertained! Towards the end, the band played famous songs, we had to stand up if we recognised the tune…this one was a popular one!

Christmas Lunch

We have been treated to an absolutely delicious Christmas lunch today. Big thanks to Norma, Bethany and Marina for all their hard work.

Primary 6/7 helped set up the hall to make it look very festive indeed. I think we all liked the tables set up in groups!

It was super to see so many Christmas jumpers too!

We have had word that all schools in Shetland are closed due to the snowy weather.
Please keep an eye on the local press/Facebook etc. for any further updates over the coming days. For now, hock out the sledges!
