Skills Development Scotland

The Careers Adviser for Brae school for the year 2020/21 is Alison Shearer from Skills Development Scotland.

Alison will be in school on Wednesdays and will be having one to one appointments with pupils in Mr Baxter’s classroom.  These conversations are confidential, as you can see from attached privacy promise that SDS staff adhere to.

Alison receives referrals from school staff, requests from parents, and also encourages any pupil who wants an appointment to get in touch with her using the contact details below.

This year, because of Covid 19, SDS staff have been asked to arrange appointments in advance rather than see ‘drop in’ pupils.  Pupils can either ask Mr Murphy, Mrs Johnson, Loren Manson, their class teacher or their parents/carers to arrange an appointment time, or get in touch directly.  Alison will send a list of pupils to Mr Murphy prior to coming into school and he will inform pupils about their appointment time.  If the time is unsuitable please let Alison or Mr Murphy know so that it can be rescheduled.

Alison is also really keen to hear from parents & carers, and is happy to have phone conversations, or answer email enquiries as and when she has availability.  Her normal working hours are Wednesday and Thursday 9am – 3:30pm and Friday 9am – 3pm.  If these hours don’t work in for parents please email Alison directly to see what can be arranged.
