I met my cousins in the hall to and my granny was looking at the haps she entered and she got the best in show knitting and first and a second. I then met up with Lucy, Chrissie and Kerry and we went around the stalls and got candy floss. We then went to look at the horses going around being shown and then we went to see how Jayde and her ponies got on. I got a spare loom from a stall and then we went to the hall again to see if we wanted to buy any cakes because it was the auctioning at 4.00pm. Our School Trip

On Tuesday 2nd of September we all went to Lerwick for different reasons. P4 and up went to Mareel to see Anina and the P3 and down went to the museum. It was a Spanish cartoon and it has subtitles. Some of the subtitles were in Spanish and it was a bit strange. Anina had three names her names were Anina Yatay Salas, her names were all palindromes and she got bullied at school because she had palinromes as names, her Dad liked her names but she hated it. When the film ended we met in the museum and we had our lunch. After lunch we went to the life boat and the little ones got lifted on and the big ones had to use the steps. We had a look around the life boat. We went inside and we saw all of the different seats the crew sat on and most of us got a sweetie. A man on the life boat  jumped in to the sea so we could see what happens when someone was in trouble in the sea, they showed us how to rescue someone when they are in the big boat or the y-boat. when they are rescuing someone in the big boat they use what looks like a crane to lift him out of the water, and when the crew are in the y-boat they get strapped on the boat and they pull the people out of the water. After that we went to the life boat station and up the stairs. Upstairs there is a living room we saw all the different knots in a glass cage there was so many I can’t remember them all. when we were down stairs we saw the crew’s uniforms. the uniforms were made out of rubber, so they had to put on this powder on the uniforms so it will stop rashes. We had a great time.

September Trip to Lerwick

On Tuesday the 2nd then we went on a school trip to Lerwick. We caught the ferry and then went to the museum to go to the toilet. We then walked over to Mareel to watch a really creepy, weird film called Anina. I didn’t really enjoy it and wouldn’t watch it again. It went on for 1h and 30mins. It was hard to read the subtitles when they were speaking.

After that then we went over to the museum to meet the little one and then we had lunch on the museum steps. After our lunch we went on the bus and went to the lifeboat. We had to climb on the boat and then we were at the top of the boat while he answered questions and then we went to the middle of the boat. The man who had the life jacket on jamp in the water and they got the life boat to save him and it was funny watching him.

We then went in the inside of the boat then we went to the bit where they pull out the stretchers. The doctor would sit in is own chair close to the door. I couldn’t see it but they went into the bit where there was all of the buttons. We then came off the boat and then we went over to the lifeboat station. We were shown the jackets and equiptment and I learned that they only have 2 women in the crew.  Then we went upstairs and spoke and asked our last questions. We looked at the frame with loads of different types of knots.

We said thank you and he gave us sheets to colour in and then we went home on the bus and got to Burravoe at about 4.00pm. We had a great day.

Shetland Screen Play

We had to go to the ferry at 08:45 because we were going on a trip to Lerwick. When we got to Lerwick it was about 10:30 which meant it was time to go and watch Anina the movie. The movie was ok, voodoo, a bit mad/crazy. It was a movie about palindromes and punishments. There were clowns and other crazy people in the movie. Then we had lunch outside the museum.

After lunch we went to the lifeboat. When we got there we met the crew and after that we went inside the lifeboat.  There were two guys who jumped off the side of the lifeboat. It was really funny then we had to shout HELP!!! After that we went off the boat and got are picture taken then we went to the life boat station they were stairs when we went up the stairs we saw the old life boat jackets and the new ones we also saw Hewitt clark, he won the most awards and a gold awards for his bravery. Then we went down the stairs and said bye and walked out of the building and walked to the buss. I thought it was a fun day.

The School Trip

I enjoyed the museum. I saw the boats. There was a Sixareen, Fourareen, Shetland Maid and a model ship.  I saw a model P&O ferry it had eight small lifeboats on it.  The P&O was an old boat which sailed between Lerwick and Aberdeen.

We went to the lifeboat the man fell overboard 2 men helped  to rescue him with a winch from the lifeboat. John works on the lifeboat  he  took us in the lifeboat station he showed the lifeboat mens suits, up stairs john show us were they  meet. On the walls we saw all rescues that the lifeboat

had done.

Screenplay School Trip

We went on the bus down to Lerwick to go to the Screen Play festival at Mareel and the lifeboat at the pier.

First we went to Mareel to watch a film called Anina. It was about a young girl called Anina Yatay Salas. All her names were palindromes she did not having all her names in palindrome letters. It was all about punishment. It did not like it very much.

Next we went to have lunch we had a picnic outside the museum.

Then after lunch we went to the lifeboat. We got toured around the lifeboat by the crew. A guy called Adrian jumped in the water to represent a man in trouble, and we had to help pull up a rope so we could get a rough idea of what they did. He did it again but this time Iain and Deita took the y-boat to save him.

Our Trip to Lerwick

Yesterday we went to Lerwick.  P4 and up went to the Mareel and P1,2,3 went to the Museum because the film was for ages 8 plus.  The film was called Anina  it was in Spanish but the subtitles was in English.  The film  was part of the Screen Play Festival.  Anina was good but it was a bit crazy in some bits. We had our lunch outside the museum.

After lunch we went to the lifeboat. First we looked at the  tall ship in the Lerwick pier. We walked around the pier to the lifeboat. We had a chat first then we went around the back of the lifeboat.  We went inside the lifeboat and we sat down.  I learned  that the little lifeboat was called a Y-boat. We went off the lifeboat and we went to the lifeboat station. We went to a room where there is a  a lot of the crews uniforms. School Trip

In the morning I got run to the ferry by my dad. when I got on the bus it was nearly time for us to go on to the ferry so we had to sit in our seats. It was a long drive to Lerwick I thought it  an hour. But when we got to Lerwick we dropped off  the little ones at the museum and we walked to the Mareel and watched Anina. Anina is a little girl who thinks she is in a mess. it was in Spanish so there was English subtitles. It was a really good film. After the film we had our pack lunch. Then we went to the pier to see the tall ship and to go on the life boat. The Tall Ship had lots of sails. On the Life boat I learned that 2,000  – 3,000 people get saved a year. We got to go inside of the Life Boat but not down stairs because the steps where to steep in side  there was a room that only the crew could go in and a bench that could split in to  two when we went out side the Life boat one of the crew members jumped in the water and his life jacket inflated but if it didn’t he would have to pull a string and it would inflate. The other crew members had to save him in the y boat. after that we went to the station there was a room that the crew could make them selves at home after that it was time to go on the bus.

The Museum and Lifeboat

First we saw a giant ship it was a huge model oil boat then we went to another room.  Emer and Rosie went to play in a pirate ship meanwhile me, Hannah, Sofia, and Neil played a game. We had to read the questions then press a boat then it said what the boats do. Then we looked at the sixareen and other boats that were hanging on the roof.  Then we played another interactive game. You had to get through two balls in the water with a boat then we went up stairs and sketched the boats on the roof.  Then we saw a gig which was pulled by a horse before people had cars. After we ate lunch.  Then we went to the port and went to the lifeboat we went to the cabin and had sweets we came out and saw one of the men jumping into the sea. We had to call help! The other two men came with a mini life boat to rescue him then they showed us how their suits kept them afloat and had a light and whistle.  Then we went back to the lifeboat station.  John showed us around the station there were two women who work at the station but lots of men. We got some colouring pages and then when you colour them you give them back and maybe win a prize. Then we went back to the bus.
