Glasgow Science Centre on Tour and Fetlar Pupils

On Wednesday the 26th, two people came from the Glasgow Science Centre, to our school. They came in a very colourful van. Later all of the pupils came from Fetlar School. First the P1, P2 and P3 went to get their science lesson. Afterwards It was our turn to go to our science lesson. We were learning about our digestion system, we spoke about how our food moulds up in a ball and goes down our oesaphagus next it goes into our stomach, after that it goes into our small intestine which is 6m long , but the small intestine is also very thin so, that’s why it’s called the small intestine, I learned that the intestines get rid of the water from the food . After it goes into the large intestine, which is only 1m and a 1/2, but its called the large intestine because it is really wide. One of the ladies also told us what she ate yesterday, and mixed all those foods in one bag, she pretended that the bag was her stomach. Later she sieved the liquid out of the bag full of food. she told us that the rest of the food would be poo.

Glasgow Science Centre on Tour

On the 26th April the Glasgow Science Centre came to Burravoe School. We did Disgusting Digestions. We saw a diagram for the parts of the body. We did a Cream Cracker challenge. We did about how the digestion system works. We looked at the stages of the digestion. First the food goes to the mouth and then it goes to your oesophagus after it goes to your stomach and the food goes  to your digestion system. The small intestines are 6 meters long and the Large intestines were 1 and a half metres long. Then we went to stations. Jemma showed the stations and explained about them. They were the Skin Magnifier and the Memory test and the X-ray light and a Multi-task activity and The Torso puzzle and the head and neck puzzle and the x-ray puzzle and the time machine. My favourite was the 10 Year time machine because it was interesting to see what I would look like if I smoke and drink in 10 years time.

Glasgow Science Centre

On Wednesday two people from the Glasgow Science Centre came to our school to show us and Fetlar School about our body. The younger ones did a workshop and the older ones did a workshop and then we did an exhibition all together. I learned the word esophagus it was the tube that goes down your neck. I also learned that cigarettes had tar in it and that what makes your lungs black it is the same stuff that is on the road.

Yesterday we had two People from the Glasgow Science Centre come to our School. Our workshop was called disgusting digestions. I learned  what saliva is and how long your your small and big intestines are. We learned what bits of the body you food goes down in to. First its start in your mouth. After that it goes to oephagus to your stomach. At the end there was an exhibition  my favoured game was the memory game because you had to look very carefully and think. I really enjoyed it and I thought it was very good.

Glasgow Science Centre on Tour

Yesterday 2 people from the Glasgow Science Centre came to our school. It was really fun and interesting. It was about digestion. I learnt about the oesophagus and the peristaltic muscles. We did some experiments and they were really funny. My favourite part of the whole thing was the exhibition. There were lots of things to do and they were all really fun. There were 3 puzzles of the body. I think the hardest one was about the brain. There was also a memory game, a light box to look at x-rays with, a thermal camera, a skin magnifier, a ten year age machine, 2 pig lungs but one had been treated like a smokers lungs, a multi-tasking game and a activity which you can hear people’s lungs with it. It was a really good experience and I’m really glad they came up.

Glasgow Science Centre on Tour – Disgusting Digestion

On Wednesday 2 people from the Glasgow Science Centre came to talk to us about digestion. They also talked stages of when you eat and where it goes. I learned about the oesophagus and the peristalsis muscles in your throat. Then one of the people made a mixture of all the meals they had in a day, we got to squeeze the bag and it was squishy and cold!

After our presentation we got to experiment with the stations they brought up. There were games, puzzles and a light box and more. My favourite thing was probably the thermal camera, the memory game and the multitasking game.

Jennifer and John’s Lambing Shed

This morning we walked down to see the ewes and lambs in Jennifer and John’s lambing shed; they have been very busy for the last few nights as there have been ewes they have had to help lamb and a lot of twins! These lambs were born during the night or this morning. On the walk back to school we saw a ewe which had just given birth to twins in the park.

Glasgow Science

my favourite machine to look at was the Ten Year Time machine it showed you your face if you smoked in ten years time. I don’t want to get wrinkles on my face so I am not going to smoke or drink.  I i liked when we put all thy things into the brain.

Bowls

Yesterday we went to a bowls competition at the Lerwick Clickimin. There were 12 teams at the bowls competition. We played five games of bowls. Out of the five of them we won 2, we won against Whiteness School and Bells Brae. We were going well until we had our snack then all the other matches we played we lost and we didn’t get into the finals of the bowls competition but that was okay because we gave it our best shot. The teams that did get into the finals were Whiteness and Sound School. Whiteness came runners up and Sound School won the bowls competition.

Shelly

Me and Rachel played with Shelly. Shelly was outside and playing with Shally and Shilly outside and then they saw more shells. The shells were different than them they looked at the shells the shells looked like they had been there all the time. The shells were limpet shells Rachel and I picked the shells up and put them inside  the shell box and then we put the other shells in the shell box. The shell box is a big box with a lid and it is kept on the window sill so they would be safe.
