Preparing for Yell Show

On Friday we had some thoughts about what veg to enter into the Yell show. We decided to pull up Totties, carrots, lettuce and cauliflower. So we went out side and opened our tottie bags and the types were Shetland Blacks, Whichill and Sarpo Mira. Once all the totties were out we put them inside then we pulled up 2 Cauliflowers and 3 Lettuce’. Inside Jennifer trimmed the Lettuce and Cauliflower while we weighed the Totties. The small ones chose the 4 biggest ones of each sort. We had lots left over so we put them in bags of 8. We had to choose which lettuces to enter and which Cauliflowers to enter. We won 1st Cauliflower, 1st for lettuce, 2nd for Carrots and Totties.

I Walked To My Grandad’s

I walked to my grandad’s with my Dad and Leah and Neil on Sunday.  It was a sunny day on Sunday. Neil and Leah scared the sheep and the sheep ran away. Neil was being silly. I talked to Dad when we walked. Leah went on her wheel chair. Then we saw my grandad’s house.

The East Yell Show

I went to the East Yell Show on Saturday and the school entered in three different sorts of tatties and carrots, lettuce and cauliflower. We got a second for our carrots and a first for our lettuce. We also got a first for our cauliflower and a third for our early tatties.

There were a lot of ponies this year that were entered except I don’t know who won. There was four, small, white bunnies that were for sale. They were very cute.

There also was a stall about the wind farms that might be going up in Burravoe. It told you all about where they were maybe going to be placed and other information.

Our First Glow meet from Shetland

We had a glow meet with Christine De Luca.Christine De Luca, she  was using glow at  Sound Primary School this is their website http://www.sound.shetland.sch.uk/. It was great, Christine De Luca read and translated  George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl in to Shetland Dialect. Sadly we didn’t finished it. Here is a link to Christine De Luca website http://www.christinedeluca.co.uk/pages/inta_shetland . They were lots of school about 47 schools that came from Shetland, some of them I never heard of. We got to ask questions to Christine De Luca, I asked had she ever met Roald Dahl but sadly she said no. There were lots and lots of questions for Christine De Luca like what was her favourite children book was.

The Yell Show

On Saturday I went to the Yell Show but I had to do a lot of preparing before it. I entered pictures, pottery, a stool, Hama beads, knitting, baking and flowers and I got a rosette. My pottery was a clay sculpture of a Lewis Chessman, my stool was wooden with a woven seat, my Hama beads was a star with a flower in the middle of it. My knitting was a big humpty dumpty which I got a rosette for, my baking was American Muffins, a mini cake, Rainbow Buns and a Victoria sponge and my flowers was just flowers in a vase.

Lunklet Burn

On Wednesday we went to Lunklet Burn but first we had to get our waterproofs on because it was pouring with rain outside. We went outside and crossed the calm road. There was a foot path made of wood and chips that we walked on. Under the bridge we saw some gates that catches rubbish then I fell over. We kept walking looking at the beautiful heather. The water was going extremely fast where all the rocks were higher. There was a bridge over the burn so we could see the speed of it. There was white stuff which showed the flow of the water and it was amazing because some water was going in circles. We followed the path all the way to the waterfall and by then we were soaking wet heads to toes. The water fall was beautiful and suprisingly quiet. It was raining so heavy by then so we went to the bus and went home.

Drawing Pictures

When we got back from Bonhoga we got to decide how we showed what we had learned there. I made a picture and I used some of the techniques  that I had seen in some of the illustrations at Bonhoga. I drew a picture of the gruffalo, here is a photo of it. I used water colours to colour in my picture

ipad movie

On Thursday I made an ipad movie with IMovie. I decided that I would make a movie about the Leisure Centre. I have never made a movie on the ipad so it was test movie. I took pictures and added them to the movie. I added text to explain all about the pictures. I added a theme for my video and my theme was Bright. A theme has its own music and background. I finished my movie and showed it to the peerie ones and they really liked it! I think my movie was ok but I only had about 25 minutes to make it but at least I learned how to make a movie!
