Dyslexia Action Group

Mrs Fullard is our Pupil Support Teacher.  Mrs Fullard works across different schools and is with us on a Monday and Tuesday.

Part of Mrs Fullard’s remit involves working with Teachers, Children and their families to identify any barriers to learning.  Around 10% of the population is dyslexic, and that would be the same for any school.

At Kingcase our Teachers and Support Staff are trained in identifying the early signs of dyslexia.  At around P3 and P4, Mrs Fullard in partnership with Teachers and Parents would begin to consider if further assessment work is needed.  This assessment process can take some time as it involves looking at a range of evidence.  We do not identify dyslexia with just one test.

Our children are also involved in understanding what dyslexia is and work hard to promote this with their peers.

At Kingcase, the children lead Assemblies about ‘What is Dyslexia?’ ‘Which famous people have dyslexia….’ ‘What can I do to help myself if I have dyslexia?’

The children also work hard to raise funds for buying in resources and books to support children with dyslexia.
