SWB2

In Support and Wellbeing Department 2, our classroom is called ‘The Den’. In The Den we work hard in our ‘Independent Learning Zones’ and are becoming more organised and independent at completing our activities. We complete our jobs at our zones and love learning new skills at the ‘Teaching Zone’ with Miss McCrae. We also have Mrs Eggo all day on a Thursday and Mrs Bryson on a Wednesday afternoon for a visit to Girvan Library. We enjoy the extra care and support with all our learning needs from our wonderful Support Assistants Mrs Jack and Mrs Rowney.

We all experience calm and consistent days through following our daily and weekly timetables. We have personalised reward systems and love to get our classroom activities completed, so that we can have our choosing time.

We are fortunate to have personalised spaces within the Support and Wellbeing Department to support our academic, social and emotional development needs, as well as our sensory needs. These are The Sensory Room, The Immersive Room, The Nest (PLAY Based Learning Room), The Calm Cave (Low Stimulus Room for regulation), The Quad (for outdoor learning) and of course our Classroom ‘The Den.’

We are very proactive within the Girvan Community and take our learning outside often. We enjoy trips to Girvan Library, Invergarven School Visits, visits to Z1 Youth Club and we have been on trips to The Science Museum and Culzean Castle. We love going to The Beach and Victory Park for weekly reward time.

We enjoy mainstream activities daily. We eat our lunch in the dinner hall and play in the playground. We enjoy small group sessions in Music, PE, Literacy within our mainstream classes and have made good friendships as a result.

In the Den, we are aware of and are supportive of each other’s additional support needs. All staff demonstrate nurturing approaches, and we develop social and emotional through PATHS and enhanced Health and Wellbeing sessions.
