Girvan Primary School is situated in the centre of the town and serves the town and the surrounding rural areas. Although our building dates from 1955 when it was opened as the new Girvan Academy at a cost of £250,000, it is in fact an art-deco 1930s design, the building of which was interrupted in the war years. In time, the building became too small for the growing Academy and in 1990/91 was renovated and adapted for use as the Primary and Nursery Schools.
The school is a nondenominational, co-educational primary offering stages P1–P7. There is an upper limit of 25 pupils in P1 and P2, and 33 in P3–7.
