We had great fun being creative with Culzean Clay to create models of sea creatures. These will be on sale at our ‘Fisherton Festival’ on the 28th of June.

We had collected this clay while we were exploring the caves at Culzean during our residential visit.
We talked about how the clay smelled and it reminded us of our time in the caves at Culzean. We thought the clay looked like chocolate and wondered if it might taste like chocolate brownies!! The clay felt very soft and squidgy, and it made a thudding sound when we dropped it on the table.
We had a great afternoon down the beach. We working in our houses to create bug hotels. They were all very different. We think the little creatures will love them!
We also created some transient art to show what we think about Outdoor learning.
We worked together, had fun, enjoyed the outdoors, and respected our environment.
Today got artistic and messy outdoors. We have been thinking about inherited traits, evolution and why organisms adapt and change over time. We decide that we would ‘evolve’….hairstyles, wizards and teachers!
After scavenging to find painting tools we got started. We had to work in teams to complete our creations then explain their evolution process to the rest of the class.
This term we’ll be having some outdoor learning afternoons. This week we planted seeds, made predictions, sketched plants and talked about ‘living things’.
We have decided to see what things will make a difference to how the plants grow. Some will have no light, some will have no water and some will have no air. We will also grow some plants outside and some inside. We have a special box with a window that will allow is to see how roots grow.
We had some great discussions about living things and asked the question… ‘is a seed alive?’
Holly taught us about the magic that happens with seeds and taught us a new word…. Germinate.
