Early Years Centre

We hope that you enjoy exploring our webpage.

New skills in order to prepare us for Primary 1!

In literacy, we are keen to explore our mark making skills and enjoy listening to lots of stories.

In numeracy, we are developing our knowledge or numbers and are trying hard to recognise these, as well as, working on our counting skills.

We love being given opportunities to be creative, whether that be in arts and craft, construction or outdoors. We try and get outside as much as possible and you will see us out having fun in all weathers. We have recently been awarded some new bikes, some of us will be taking part in Play on Pedals and others will be enjoying exploring our new balance bikes.

Please try and remember to send us in suitable clothing for rain, hail or shine. We enjoy physical play in the MUGA, on the trim trail, on the bikes and when taking part in our daily mile. We also take part in daily key worker group times where we focus mainly on literacy and numeracy skills, as well as, the ability to talk about what we have been learning.

We are very excited with the new addition of our Outdoor space – we can’t wait to engage in free flow outdoor play and hope it will be ready very soon.

We are becoming very independent in both our snack and lunch routines. We enjoy having our lunch in the school dining hall and value the opportunities to try new foods and socialise with our friends. We also work hard to follow our Early Years rules. We really are a very kind and helpful bunch in Braehead Early Years Centre!

This term we will be learning about:

  • Rules and Routines in the Early Years Centre.
  • Sharing and cooperating with our friends.
  • Exploring number through our group times and every day experiences.
  • Identifying our name on our snack cards and coat pegs.
  • Exploring mark making and drawing pictures of ourselves.
  • Days of the Week.
  • All About Me – My facial features.
  • All About My Family.
  • Road Safety.
  • Autumn/Halloween.
  • Sharing News during Group Times and taking turns to talk and listen.
  • Being Creative by exploring arts and crafts indoors and out.
  • Exploring our interactive whiteboard and iPads.
  • And much more …

We are always very busy learning and you can see lots of what we have been up to in our class blog:
