News

The children are enjoying their Stickman topic.  Last week we looked at the importance of protecting our forest areas and local environment.   The children will also be learning about nouns and adjectives, making wrapping paper designs by printing and participating in drama activities around the Stickman book.

Flu vaccinations are planned for Thursday.

We have also started practising for the Christmas Nativity.  The Primary 2s will be singing in the Nativity.  A letter has been sent home with the date of the show in December.  If you have not received this letter please pop a note in the diary and I will let you know the date.

Have a great week.

Children in Need Thursday 16th November

Image result for Children in Need Pudsey

Good evening everyone!

Just a little reminder that this Thursday, Bishopton will be raising money for Children in Need. All children are invited to wear spotty clothing to school and take part in fundraising activities. If your child does not own spotty clothes they are welcome to wear something else! Throughout the day, the children will visit the gym hall for a spotty disco and will have the chance to purchase from the bake sale. The infant classes (P1-3) can take part in a ‘design an outfit for Pudsey’ and have the chance to win their own Pudsey bear!

Suggested donations for dressing up are £1 and 10p-20p for a cake from the bake sale. If any children from P4 to P7 are able to donate baked goods (without nuts please!) towards the bake sale that would be fantastic!

We are looking forward to raising money for such a great cause. Thank you in advance.

Week Beginning 13th November

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a restful weekend. Homework & News:

Homework

Our spelling sound this week is ‘ll’ as in ‘tell’, ‘fell’ or ‘bell’. We will continue to discuss the difference between single and double letter endings.

Here is a game focusing on ‘ll’ that can be played at home. Some words also contain sounds which we have covered already.

New reading books will also be handed out on Monday. The children are growing in confidence when discussing the beginning, middle and end of stories in class. Please continue to discuss these at home with their reading books if possible.

Our focus in class this week will be missing numbers, e.g., ? + 7 = 10. This can be quite tricky but pupils have worked very hard to learn the pairs of friends to 10 and we will now discuss how to use that knowledge to work out a missing number – whether in a calculation within 0 – 10 or using higher numbers.

This video is a great piece of revision for the friendly numbers to 10.

News

This week will be taking part in fundraising for Children in Need. The children are invited to wear spotty clothes to school on Thursday 16th. There will be a spotty disco that the children can take part in, a bake sale ran by the upper school and a ‘Design an outfit for Pudsey’ competition (the prize is a Pudsey bear!). All donations are suggestions, we will welcome any donations for such a great cause.

Thanks for your continued support, the children surprise me more and more each week with their fantastic work!

News

The children have been working very hard in class.  Last week we learned about the Forestry commission in Scotland and the importance of looking after our local areas and green spaces.  The children created some wonderful posters to highlight the things the public can do to protect our green spaces.  Pictures to follow. In  a few weeks we will be going on a local walk in Bishopton.  We will be looking for adult helpers.  More details to follow later this week regarding date and time.

This week on Thursday 16th November, Pupils are invited to dress in something spotty for Children in Need.   Please don’t feel the need to buy something new for this.  Own clothes and a donation will be fine if your child doesn’t own anything spotty.  There will be dancing and a bake sale.  Suggested donation is £1.

Have a great week and thank you as always for your support.

Good afternoon, I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend so far. Please see below for homework, news and class updates.

Homework:

Our spelling sound this week is ‘ll’ as in ‘tell’, ‘fell’ or ‘bell’. We will continue to discuss the difference between single and double letter endings.

Here is a game focusing on ‘ll’ that can be played at home. Some words also contain sounds which we have covered already.

Reading books will be given out again this week. Children are growing in confidence when speaking about the beginning, middle and end of stories and we will continue to focus on this as a class.

If your child does not yet have a revised word wall then they will receive it this week. I will highlight the words I would like them to focus on but they may do more if they wish.

Maths:

Our focus in class this week will be missing numbers, e.g., ? + 7 = 10. This can be quite tricky but pupils have worked very hard to learn the pairs of friends to 10 and we will now discuss how to use that knowledge to work out a missing number – whether in a calculation within 0 – 10 or using higher numbers. If you are able, please ask your child to explain how they reached their answer.

Other News:

Thursday is our Children In Need fundraising day. If they would like to take part, your child may come to school dressed in spotty clothing on that day. Please don’t hesitate to ask me if you have any other questions or queries.

Thank you and have a lovely week!

Fireworks Poetry

We’ve had a very busy week in P2C. Music lessons have taught us about ‘ta’ and ‘tay tay’ and we have spent time in Maths learning some new subtraction strategies and how to analyse data.

We also had a fantastic writing session on Tuesday where we created acrostic poems for the word ‘firework’. I have really enjoyed watching you progress throughout this unit and have been impressed with all your ideas! I have popped a few pieces of work below – do you recognise yours?

Poem 1

Flashing

Incredible

Rockets in the air

Everyone was watching

Whoosh!

On Saturday we went

Raining

Kites in the sky

Poem 2

Fire

In the sky

Rocks in the air

Exciting

Wow! Look up there!

On top of the clouds

Racing flashes

King of fireworks

Poem 3

Flaming in the sky

Interesting

Running away

Enthusiastic

What a firework!

Oh! Look at the colours!

Rockets that are pink

Keep going

Just a short note to say that we will be painting in class on Friday. We have aprons available for everyone but if you wish to send in an old long sleeved shirt/tshirt for your child to wear over their clothes then please feel free to do so. These should be in a plastic bag and labelled with your child’s name so that they can be returned.

Thank you in advance,

Miss Cauley
