Primary 2 are in need of some tubs (along the lines of a pringles tube) for a very special electricity model we will be making in the coming weeks. If you have anything like this and can send it into class that would be much appreciated.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. This week our spelling rule is ‘er’.

Spelling words should be written a further twice. Explore the world around you to identify and read other words that use the “er” spelling rule. Children should be familiar with the common words and we are focusing on them being able to spell these as well as being able to recognise and read them.
Select one or more one your spelling words to put into a sentence. The children have been working hard on their sentence structure in Primary 2:
Capital letter at beginning of each sentence.
Finger spaces between each word.
Writing on the line, check formation of letters.
Interesting openers.
Punctuation, full stop at the end of a sentence.
Using nouns and adjectives to expand our sentence.
Spelling words should be written a further twice and at least one sentence using our spelling words. Recognition and understanding of common words is an important part of supporting our reading skills. For fun, the children could try to spot as many common words as they can during the week.
We would love to see the children challenge themselves by thinking of words that rhyme with our spelling words this week, for example: thank – drank, tank.
Well done to all the wonderful children in Primary two who continue to work hard and have a positive attitude to their spelling homework. Our spelling rule for this week is ‘al.’

We will begin numeracy and maths homework next week. As next week is a short week, we are suggesting that Sumdog or, if preferable, Topmarks, is the Numeracy and Maths homework. From the week beginning 9th May, a new homework grid will resume as normal.
A reminder that PE will be on a Wednesday and Thursday each week. This term we will be focusing on athletics. I hope to have as many PE lessons outdoors as possible to enjoy the warmer weather and larger space.
I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and looking forward to the summer term. This week our spelling rule is ‘oy’.

We hope you have had a pleasant start to the week. The Primary 2 teachers have planned a lovely afternoon for the children. We would like them to discover the importance of our rainforests, therefore we would like to allow the children to explore different foods which come from tropical environments. This would be a case of smelling, touching and tasting some exotic, exciting foods such as bananas, coffee beans, avocado ect.
We are aware of allergies and will make sure to be mindful of this. If you have any queries or even suggestions please let us know. 🙂
We are planning to carry out this activity on Thursday/Friday.
