P2R wk beg 26.02.18

Good evening, I hope you all enjoyed the sunshine this weekend.  Homework and news as follows:

Homework

This week our spelling sound will be wh as in whale and what.

Reading books continue.

Wordwalls will be checked on Thursday.  I have highlighted words to learn but the children can do more or less depending on their confidence levels.

Maths homework will be number problem solving this week.

News

On Thursday 1st March we are celebrating world book day.  Children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character or wear their pjs or onesies.  No donation is required.  If your child has been doing the readathon, sponsor money can be given in to the school from Thursday.

Next week we will be looking at and evaluating our short term targets for this term.  These can be found in their booklet kept in their bookbag.  They will be encouraged in class this week to look at these again and focus on achieving these targets.  This is to make them more aware of their own learning and areas that they need to work on.

Primary 4M, 4C and 5/4 are doing an enterprising topic this term called Micro Tyro.  On Monday they will be selling a variety of cards for 50p and they also have a pop up Magical garden shop.  The magical garden shop will be open break times and lunchtimes Monday to Wednesday this week.  See previous posts for details of what they are selling.

I hope you have a great week.

Thanks as always for your support.

Week Beginning 26th February

Good evening,

I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend! Homework and news coming up:

Homework

This week in class we will be looking at ‘wh’ words, such as what, whale and wheel. As always, we will also be practicing our common words too.

Children will continue to choose their own reading books this week. On Tuesdays, with Mr Collins, the children have been focussing on comprehension- please continue to discuss reading books with your children and ask them questions.

The maths bingo homework continues this week- I loved seeing some of the new 50p coin ideas! I handed out some tree templates for those wanting to complete the coin rubbing task, if your child decides that they do want a template just leave a note in the diary for me.

News

This Thursday is world book day! I hope the children have been reading lots of texts and raising money for the day. Children may come dressed as their favourite book character or wear their pyjamas on Thursday. However, if they choose to do neither they must wear school uniform. We will have our read and munch with P7 on this day so they children may bring in a healthy snack too.

Have a great week, and thank you for your continued support.

Hello and happy Sunday! I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend – please see below for this week’s homework and class news.

Spelling: Our sound this week is ‘wh’ as in whale, what, where or why. We will be looking at how to decide whether to use ‘wh’ or w’.

Wordwalls: If your child did not receive their new wordwall last week they will receive it this week. Suggested words have been highlighted but as always, feel free to do more if your child would like. I have been very impressed by how hard pupils are trying to both say and spell their words.

Reading: Reading books will be issued this week. As well as discussing setting, character and plot in class, we are also starting to learn how to answer comprehension questions. If you are able, please ask your child some questions about what is happening in their book.

Maths: Maths bingo homework continues this week. If you would like a coin tree rubbing template, please let me know. Pupils have been showing great interest in learning about money.

Class News:

P.E.: Our P.E. days are Wednesday and Thursday. Pupils should have a full gym kit on these days. It is helpful for those pupils who prefer to wear shirt and tie to have a t-shirt or polo shirt in their gym bag.

Lost Property: We have quite a few items of clothing/footwear in our class lost and found box hunting for a home. Could I please ask that all clothing or sportswear is appropriately labelled with your child’s name and class?  This will ensure items can be returned swiftly.

World Book Day: World Book Day is on Thursday. You may come to school dressed as a book character or in your pyjamas. If you are not dressing up/in your pjs, then please wear your school uniform. As part of WBD, we will be enjoying read and munch with P6G – you are welcome to bring your favourite book and a healthy snack.

Have a great week ahead, and as always, thank you for your help and support.

Week Beginning 19th February

Good Morning,

Homework

Spelling- This week we are back to looking at the silent e rule, specifically u_e words such as tube and cube. All children have been learning about this rule in class but may have different spelling words.

Maths- For the next few weeks we will be focussing on money. In order to immerse the children in fun, relevant activities we have sent home a homework bingo sheet. There are 12 activities and I am looking for the children to complete at least 9 of these over the next three weeks. One of those activities is to play a money game online: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/money/toy-shop-money

Reading- Children have been continuing to choose their own reading books and love discussing them in class.

News

Thank you for your donation of paper towards our papier mache scultures- we can’t wait for you too see them at our open afternoon (more news to follow!)

Have a great week,

Miss B
