On Friday morning, P2B&C went outside to search for the perfect materials for our class’ Stick Man displays. We had great fun looking for dry leaves, sticks and anything else that we thought would work. Any excuse for some outdoor exploring!

Stickman
Hello, I hope you have all had a wonderful week. We had a fantastic day today developing our knowledge of Stickman and his family. We looked at how to sequence a story and discussed why it’s important to put things in the right order. We also spent some time outside discussing the textures of different materials before heading back inside to design, create and build our own members of the stick family. Final display coming soon! Until then, have a look at our works in progress.
Have a great weekend and remember – stay safe on Bonfire Night! Miss Cauley
Sun, Moon and Stars
Today during science we looked at the sun and how it impacts our lives. Here are a few pictures of us looking at the effect the sun has on shadows.
Remembrance Day Poppies
Poppies will be available from Monday 6th November until Friday 10th November. If you wish your child to make a donation and receive a poppy, please ensure that they have their donation separately from their snack/lunch money.
Happy Hallowe’en!
Good evening everyone, I hope you are having a suitably spooky night!
Our current language focus is acrostic poetry and today I was blown away by some of the outstanding poems written by P2C. You should all be very proud of yourselves – not only can you explain what an acrostic poem is, you can use your knowledge of vocabulary and your thoughts and ideas to create a piece of your own.
Here are just a small selection of the poems from today – I hope you enjoy reading them. Can you spot yours?
See you all tomorrow!

Week beginning 30th October
Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Homework and news below:
Homework
Our spelling rule this week is ‘ff’, as in ‘toffee’ or ‘cliff’ and as always there are some common words to learn as well.
Maths homework is an ordering numbers to 20 worksheet. You may use this as a cut and stick exercise or I’m happy for the children to simply write in the numbers.
Reading books have been given out. I will be completing running records over the next couple of weeks to ensure your child is reading at the correct level.
News
We absolutely love our new Stickman topic and yesterday we collected sticks to make our very own Stickman! This week we will create outfits for him/her and will read through the book. We will also be looking at the beginning, middle and end of stories as part of our reading work. Talking about the beginning, middle and end of stories (books, tv shows, films, etc.) at home will help solidify the children’s understanding of story sequencing too.
Although it is cold, the weather remains reasonably dry and this term we hope to get outside as much as we can! I would be grateful if pupils could bring in a pair of wellies or older shoes (that are okay to get dirty) for class to use as and when is needed. These can be taken home each week if necessary for weekend activities.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in boxes and all sorts of materials for our technology topic, it is greatly appreciated. Keep sending them in, the more the merrier!
Thank you for your continued support. I am very impressed with the class’ work ethic and enthusiasm.
Have a lovely week,
Miss Bachell/Mr Collins
Week Beg 30/10/17

Homework
Spelling – This week our sound is ‘ff’ as in stiff and cliff. There will be 4 ff words and 4 common words to learn.
Reading – Reading books will be issued today. Please if you are able, continue to discuss what happens at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
Wordwalls continue to be heard. If you child does not have a word wall in their bag it is likely it is being revised and will be issued shortly.
Maths homework this week will be looking at odd and even numbers to 20. This is to tie in with our current topic of subtraction.

We absolutely love our new Stickman topic and last week we collected sticks to make our very own Stickman! This week we will create outfits for him/her and continue to read through the book. We will also be looking at the beginning, middle and end of stories as part of our reading work. I am very impressed with the children’s enthusiasm and look forward to sharing their thoughts and ideas with you.
Pupils have been bringing in Julia Donaldson books for the last week or so and it is wonderful! I will endeavour to read a story as often as possible and will also offer the children the opportunity to read to the class if they feel comfortable enough to do so.

This term we hope to get outside as much as the weather allows for lots of different subjects. As such I would be grateful if pupils could bring in a pair of wellingtons for the class to use as and when is needed. (some children have wellingtons in class already so these are fine)Thank you in advance for this. They can take them home each week if necessary for weekend activities.
Have a great week.
